The Old Illusions è un album di otto canzoni scritte da Nathaniel Bellows nato e cresciuto artisticamente a Boston.
Musicista, scrittore ed artista a 360 gradi. La sua musica non è ciò che probabilmente troviamo nel nostro ipod per una lunga corsa o magari per sfogarci dallo stress quotidiano ma c’è da ammetterlo, la melodia, la voce, gli arrangiamenti deliziosi possono stupire anche l’orecchio più distratto, cinico e pretenzioso. Nathaniel Bellows è un cantastorie ed a un primo ascolto potrebbe ricordare un giovane Leonard Cohen. Il suo stile molto intimistico riesce a darti l’impressione di nuotare in acque tiepide e profonde, circondato da un cielo che volge ad una luce sempre più scura. The Old Illusions ti riscalda il cuore come un qualsiasi camino che ti avvolge tra le sue braccia quando fuori nevica. Così delicamente, la musica può mostrarti posti che mai avresti pensato di vedere prima. I suoi testi, infatti, raccontano di posti probabilmente visitati (e chi lo sa, immaginari?) che l’autore vuole dipingere nella mente dell’ascoltatore, vere e proprie poesie messe in musica. L’intero album inoltre, arrangiato da molti artisti, rende giustizia all’idea originale del cantato accompagnato da una sola chitarra e se, per fortuna, ascolterete questo disco, potrete persino sentire gli uccellini fischiettare e poggiarsi sulla vostra spalla mentre la sera, nel buio della vostra stanza, chiuderete gli occhi per dormire. Concludiamo citando una frase del disco di Nathaniel Bellows: Because if we fall or we fly the time that we spend wondering why is nothing to the time still in our hands. Eccezionale scoperta.

The Old Illusions is a collection of eight original songs written by Nathaniel Bellows.
Boston raised, Nathaniel Bellows is an artist in a lot of ways but music is my topic. His music is not what I used to listen, it’s not properly my cup of tea, but he hit me like a gun. He’s a pure story-teller and the first comparison I could made is with a young Leonard Cohen. His intimistic way makes me feel like I’m swimming deep in the hot water and all around blue going darker , covering any light. Warm your heart like the fireplace on Christmas day, when it’s rainy or snowy outside. So delicate, his voice can show you places that you have never seen before, this is what the lyrics talks about, places, poetry and a lot more. According to me At sea is the most powerful song in the album because it’s able to show you feelings. The lyric is painted to frame the reality, the recorder seems like a morning bird! The whole album is well made and arrangement too. I’d like to finish with this sentence: Because if we fall or we fly the time that we spend wondering why is nothing to the time still in our hands.
