Nostalgic and beautiful

I’ve just got a link from the German DIE ZEIT online, bearing the evocative title “Sehnsucht nach Schönheit”, i.e. Nostalgia of Beauty – an exhibition on fashion photography in Vienna. In the gallery provided with the news, these two very vintage images hit the dollcultural me.

You notice the model and a wax double, a giant doll with long-lashed eyes. But her teeth seem more real and more tarnished by smoking than (presumably) the model’s.

This is a very conceptual photo. Nothing prevents you from imagining that there’s a doll in the crystal sphere, whatever it means.

Ho appena avuto un link da DIE ZEIT online, dal titolo evocativo di “Sehnsucht nach Schönheit”, i.e. Nostalgia della Bellezza – una mostra sulla fotografia di moda ora a Vienna. Nella gallery che corredava la notizia, qste due immagini molto vintage hanno colpito la mia parte dollculturale.

Si vede la modella e un „doppio“ di cera, una bambola gigante con occhioni molto cigliati. Ma i suoi denti sembrano più veri e più scuriti dal fumo che non qlli (immaginiamo) della modella.

Qsta è una foto molto concettuale. Niente perciò impedisce di immaginare che nella sfera di cristallo c'è una bambola, qualunque cosa significhi.
