Come racconta il corrispondente della "Stampa", Maurizio Molinari, Yehuda Zahav, capo dei soccorritori di Zaka, che si occupano di recuperare i resti delle vittime, ha dichiarato: "Abbiamo visto in passato molti attentati, anche con più vittime, ma questa volta si è trattato di ebrei in sinagoga fatti a pezzi con asce, coperti di sangue, con tallit e tefillit ancora indosso, e libri sacri gettati in terra, scene simili le abbiamo viste solo durante la Shoà". Scene di orrore che ci fanno andare con la memoria alle ripetute stragi di cristiani altrettanto innocenti e indifesi, con la sola "colpa" a detta dei loro persecutori, "colpa" che condividono con i "fratelli maggiori" ebrei, di credere pacificamente nel loro Dio. Sono facce della stessa medaglia. In proposito, ci pregiamo di diffondere il comunicato ricevuto dalla Fondazione Maimonide, che ringraziamo, nel quale è riportato il testo fatto pervenire dalla Dott.ssa Billig a nome di S. RELIGIOUS LEADERS EXPRESS SHOCK AND HORROR - A RELIGIOUS WAR WILL BE DISASTROUS FOR ALL

The Council of the Religious Institutions of the Holy Land (embracing the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, the PA Sharia Courts, and the local Patriarchates and Bishoprics) express their shock and horror over the horrendous murders and wounding of worshippers at prayer in the synagogue in Har Nof.

Such murderous deeds especially in a house of worship are the ultimate abuse of religion. We call on all religious political and civic leaders to do their utmost to prevent the local political conflict from being turned into a religious war the consequences of which will be disastrous for all.

In the name of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, The Heads of the Local Churches of the Holy Land and the Courts of Sharia Law in the Palestinian Authority.

The council of the Religious Institutions of the Holy Land was established in 2005. It is the first ever consultative body representing the highest official religious authorities in the Holy Land encompassing two peoples and three religions.
