Oscar 2016, prima vittoria per Morricone e DiCaprio

Si è svolta nella notte tra il 28 e il 29 Febbraio presso il Dolby Theater di Los Angeles l'88esima edizione della premiazione degli Academy Awards, meglio nota come la Notte degli Oscar. È stata indubbiamente la notte di Leonardo DiCaprio vincitore dell'Oscar come miglior attore protagonista per " Revenant - Redivivo" di Alejandro González Iñárritu. Un riconoscimento che giunge dopo 22 anni dalla sua prima nomination (6 in totale) e parecchie delusioni che gli avevano impedito di aggiudicarsi l'ambita statuetta d'oro.

Prima volta anche per il Maestro Ennio Morricone, che conquista il premio per la miglior colonna sonora rilasciato dall' Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Il musicista e compositore italiano si aggiudica il trofeo per la colonna sonora di The Hateful Eight, film di Quentin Tarantino che, nel ritirare il Golden Globe al posto dell'artista, aveva definito il Maestro il suo compositore preferito, non inferiore a Beethoven o Mozart. Il miglior film è invece Il Caso Spotlight, premiato anche per la miglior sceneggiatura originale.
