Our last day in Melbourne and Australia // Il nostro ultimo giorno a Melbourne e in Australia

And here we are: our last day in Melbourne and in Australia. A strange feeling, as if nothing was going to happen. And in fact not much happened that day apart from the fact that we were going to leave the country. And probably, after a relaxed breakfast and a last stroll in the CBD, it’s been much about cleaning the apartment (the never ending story) and getting rid of every single little item that we accumulated in these 3 years. And I mean it! The apartment needed to be emptied completely not to incur in charges, thanks to our friend Lluis for letting us know (e.g. A soap near the sink is seen as not proper cleaning / not leaving the apartment in perfect conditions and removing it could be an overwhelming effort for the agency ;)). Our last lunch out in the Docklands, as always bustling at lunch time, and our last coffee, that we had at Chia Chia, and I must say it was quite good! We should have gone before to this cafe, as the lunch offer looked pretty good, I knew it!

And then a bit of relaxation taking advantage of our building wi-fi since iPrimus had disconnected the internet one day before, even though we confirmed it with them a few times, but anyway what to do…

Finally at the airport, thanks to my husband frequent flyer points we got admitted to the First Class Lounge, which I must say it’s an experience itself, to do at least once in your life if you have the chance. You don’t need to fly neither first or business class, just acquire the status through frequent flying, at least with Qantas. And I was also lucky enough to be offered a complimentary neck, head and shoulder 20min massage by a now Aussie, but Brazilian of Italian heritage, hostess. We even got to speak a bit of Portuguese. I was so happy and she was too! She even came to say goodbye before she left. And then you get to dine like in a restaurant! Top food, wine and service. I must say Qantas needs to be recognised for it. Well, I’m so lucky! …definitely a very relaxing and charming farewell to Australia!

Ci siamo, il nostro ultimo giorno a Melbourne e’ arrivato. In realta’ e’ arrivato gia’ qualche mese fa’, ma non ho avuto tempo di pubblicare l’articolo prima e forse non mi sentivo ancora di pubblicarlo, anche perche’ forse un po’ “sborone” in alcune parti, ma alla fine siamo stati semplicemente fortunati e perche’ non esserne felici?

Quel giorno abbiamo fatto una passaeggiata per il centro per congedarci da Melbourne. Una giornata invernale tipica: grigio, qualche goccia di pioggia, un po’ freddino. E’ stato quindi piu’ facile andarsene.

E poi e’ stata ora di terminare la pulizia dell’appartamento, pulizia che non finiva mai perche’ l’appartamento doveva essere lasciato completamente vuoto! E grazie a Lluis, un amico di Barcellona, che ci ha detto che ogni singola doveva essere tolta, anche il sapone dal lavello, ma soprattutto anche i deodoranti del WC che prima o poi si dissolvono. Avremmo se no ricevuto un “complaint” o avremmo dovuto pagare e diciamocelo, era uno sforzo troppo grande per l’agenzia! ;)

Abbiamo mangiato fuori per l’ultima volta nei Docklands, che a pranzo e’ sempre in fermento, e abbiamo preso l’ultimo nostro caffe’ da Chia Chia, dove devo dire il caffe’ era piuttosto buono, peccato non esserci andati prima, ma durante il giorno non eravamo mai da queste parti causa lavoro. Anche l’offerta per il pranzo sembrava invitante!

Poi un po’ di relax nella hall del nostro palazzo dove si puo’ navigare senza problemi con wi-fi fino a quando non e’ arrivato il taxi. E via verso l’aeroporto! Grazie alle miglia di mio marito, che avra’ passato almeno meta’ del tempo in Australia a viaggiare, abbiamo avuto accesso alla First Class Lounge. In realta’ non bisogna neanche bviaggiare First Class, ma acquisire lo status con i punti sufficienti. Devo dirvi che e’ stata una esperienza in se’! Dall’ambiente della lounge di Qantas, tutto nuovo, alla fortuna di aver fatto un massaggio di 20 minuti a collo e schiena, offertomi da una hostess australiana, ma brasiliana e di origine italiana. Ho avuto anche la possibilita’ di parlare portoghese, non potevo che essere piu’ che contenta! E anche lei, dato che inaspettatamente e’ venuta a salutarci prima di andare via. Alle volte si creano connessioni tra le persone, anche solo per pochi istanti, ma che ti rallegrano la giornata! E poi la cena…praticamente come al ristorante e non uno qualsiasi. Buona scelta di vini e menu’!

Beh, un addio soft e avvolgente all’Australia, …fino alla prossima volta!
