palloncini-palline - balloon balls

lo so che avete presente quelle palle fatte da palloncini riempiti di farina o riso. quelli che si possono schiacciare contro lo stress o giusto per giocare. e sicuramente avrete pensato, "ma sarebbe un gioco da ragazzi farmene una".
i know you've seen those balls made out of balloons filled with flour or rice. the ones you can squeeze when you're stressed or just play around with. and most certainly you've thought, "there'd be nothing to making one myself."

forse avrete pensato, basta infilare un imbuto nel palloncino, metterci della farina, e si riempie. è questo che ho pensato io. solo che non scende la farina in modo di far espandere il palloncino. quindi ho pensato, basta gonfiare prima il palloncino, tenerlo chiuso mentre si infila l'imbuto, metterci della farina nel imbuto, e lasciar aprire l'apertura del palloncino in modo che la farina possa entrare.
perhaps you thought, all you have to do is stick a funnel inside the balloon, put flour in it and it fills up. that's what i thought. except the flour wouldn't go down enough to expand the balloon. so i thought, all i need to do is blow up the balloon, keep it closed while i stick in the funnel, put flour in the funnel, and let the opening of the balloon open up so that the flour can slip in.

infatti, questa è la tecnica perfetta se vorresti assistere ad una specie di geyser che sputa farina in tutte le direzioni. e anche se vorresti assistere allo spettacolo di una bimba che, estasiata, scrive e disegna nella farina abbondante sul tavolo e poi balla nella farina a terra.
and this is indeed the perfect technique if you want to witness a sort of geyser spout forth flour in all directions. and also if you'd like to witness the spectacle of an ecstatic girl drawing and writing in the abundant flour on the table and then dancing in the flour on the floor.

è stato divertente, ma diciamo che ho messo un po' di tempo per pulirla tutta. poi ho ricorso alla sapienza infinita di google, e ho trovato la mia soluzione: mettere la farina (o riso o quello che vuoi) in una bottiglietta di plastica (o qualche altro contenitore con un'apertura piccola) con un imbuto, gonfiare il palloncino e, senza far uscire l'aria, mettilo sopra l'apertura della bottiglietta. poi giri il tutto sotto sopra e la farina cade dentro il palloncino.
it was quite entertaining, but let's just say that it took me a little while to clean it all up. then i turned to the infinite knowledge of google and i found my solution: put the flour (or rice or whatever you want) in a little plastic bottle (or any other container with a small opening) with a funnel, blow up the balloon and, without letting the air out, slip it around the bottle opening. then turn it all upside down and the flour falls into the balloon.

è funzionato benissimo! solo che mi preoccupava un po', perché schiacciando il palloncino, si espandeva un po' troppo, fin quando si poteva vedere la farina dentro e sembrava di stare per scoppiare. ho tagliato il "collo" di un altro palloncino con l'intenzione di infilare il palloncino riempito dentro il resto del secondo palloncino, in modo di avere più strati e quindi più protezione da scoppi. solo che non ci riuscivo. scivolava sempre fuori quello riempito.
it worked a charm! i was just a little worried because, if you squashed the balloon, it would expand a bit too much, until you could see the flour through the balloon skin and it looked like it was about to pop. i cut off the "neck" of another balloon with the intention of slipping the filled balloon inside the rest of the second balloon, so as to have more layers and therefore more protection against popping. except i couldn't. the filled one kept slipping out.

poi ci siamo rese conto che il palloncino riempito assomigliava molto ad un barbapapà, quindi mia figlia si è messa a disegnare i tratti di barbottina (la barbabebè di color arancione) e io ho fatto un coroncino di fiori recuperati da un bomboniere. secondo noi, è venuta molto bene!
then we noticed that the filled balloon looked an awful lot like a barbapapa, so my daughter drew on the attributes of barbalib (the orange-colored barbababy) and i made a little crown of flowers recuperated from a wedding favor. we think she came out quite nicely!

poi abbiamo deciso di fare un progetto visto su pinterest (come le idee di cui ho scritto qui e qui): fare una palla dura con palloncini e riso. ho seguito le istruzioni, ma usando il riso invece delle lenticchie (e forse ho usato il trucchetto della bottiglietta di plastica che ha funzionato tanto bene con la farina, ma sinceramente non mi ricordo più bene), ed è venuta perfettamente.
then we decided to do a project found on pinterest (like the ideas i wrote about here and here): make a hard balloon and rice ball. i followed the instructions, just using rice instead of lentils (and perhaps i also used that plastic bottle trick that worked so well with the flour, but i honestly don't remember anymore), and it worked perfectly. 

ma povera barbottina ha fatto una brutta fine dopo essere stata schiacciata e buttata per l'aria una volta di troppo!
but poor barbalib came to a sad end after having been squeezed and thrown about once too often!
