Chi e’ patrizia?

Sono un designer di 33 anni (abbondanti).
Di lavoro faccio il grafico in un agenzia a Milano. Per passione (e 2° lavoro) mi dedico all’ideazione e produzione di oggetti in ceramica.
Il lavoro del designer è terribilmente affascinante, è un po’ come
essere sempre bambini, circondarsi di oggetti che arrivano dalla
propria immaginazione, solo più “maturi”, funzionali, complessi
anche.
Tuttavia mi sembra che questa magia si perda un po’ nel momento in
cui una stessa idea venga ripetuta troppe volte sempre identica a se stessa.
Perde la parte calda del suo essere, rimane solo forma.
La vulcanicità di un designer unita alla sapienza ed eccellenza della produzione artigiana possono portare ad una produzione intensa, fatta di originalità e sperimentazione senza perdere l’unicità ed esclusività del singolo pezzo.
Non mi considero un artista, nè un artigiano. Faccio parte di
quell’ancora ai più sconosciuto settore chiamato “handmade
design”.
I tuoi studi?
Le strade intraprese hanno dato la precedenza alle questioni
“ragionevoli”, nate più dalla testa che dal cuore. Ho frequentato
il liceo scientifico, seguito dalla facoltà di disegno industriale. Nel tempo che rimaneva a mia disposizione ho seguito corsi di ceramica e disegno. L’ultimo di questi, appena terminato, è stato un corso di tornio elettrico per la ceramica.
E’ un’attività piuttosto complicata, richiede molta tecnica e
precisione, ma regala anche notevoli soddisfazioni!
La vita attraverso le tue mani?
Sono nata con una buona predisposizione per le attività manuali.
Visualizzo nella mente quello che voglio costruire, e poi lo
trasferisco al materiale che ho davanti, spesso senza neppure passare dal disegno. Non è una cosa semplice da spiegare a parole.
E’ questione di naturalezza di un gesto.
La prima creazione?
La prima volta che ho lavorato l’argilla ho modellato una mano, la
mia. In realtà si è trattato di una specie di sfida, nei confronti
delle mie capacità. Mi capita spesso di farlo. Lo faccio perché sono curiosa, non so stare ferma, troppe cose mi affascinano! Per
selezionare ho attuato questa tecnica: fisso una meta ambiziosa. Se il risultato è soddisfacente allora so che con impegno e dedizione potrò ottenere ottimi risultati. La mano aveva una serie di difetti, soprattutto anatomici dovuti alla carenza di studi specifici, ma la mia personale selezione era superata! Ho amato da subito tenere tra le mani l’impasto morbido dell’argilla. Un amore che si rinnova di continuo!
Il tuo desiderio?
Ho portato avanti questa passione per 10 anni solo per me, o per
creare oggetti da regalare agli amici. Di recente ho scoperto la gioia della condivisione. Condivisione nel sapere che i pezzi cui ho dedicato tempo, attenzione e amore, sono entrati a far parte della vita di altre persone. Quando un oggetto nasce da una tua idea e dalle tue mani, lo senti davvero tuo, è una tua creatura in qualche maniera. Ti porta con sé.

Il fatto di poter diffondere i propri oggetti è un po’ come
estendersi, entrare in contatto con il quotidiano di altre persone.
Il compromesso per realizzarlo?
Mando avanti una doppia occupazione. Di giorno sono un grafico, in
ufficio, e la sera nel mio laboratorio libero la fantasia e creo i
miei pezzi.
Un’intensa passione è una grande forza che ti spinge a trovare le
energie anche quando penseresti di averle terminate!

Who’s Patrizia?

I’m a 33 years old (almost 34…) designer. I work as a graphic designer in Milan. For passion(and 2nd job) I conceive and produce ceramics.
Design is an awfully enchanting job, a bit like still being children, sorrounded by objects coming straight from own imagination, only more “grown”, functional, complex too. However magic seems to fade when ideas are replicated many and many times exaclty alike. It loses the warmer part of its being. It remains mere shape.
Designer’s volcanicity combined with know-how and excellency of crafts output can lead to an intense production made of originality and experimentation without losing single piece unicity and exclusivity.
I don’t think of myself as an artist nor an artisan. I’m part of the still unknown sector called “handmade disign”.
What about your studies?

Roads I passed through have given priority to reason, born from the head more than from the heart. I attended scientific high school followed by Industrial Design University. I dedicated the remaining time attending painting and ceramic courses. The last of these, just completed, was about using electric lathe for ceramic. It’s a pretty complicated activity, it requires a lot of technical and rigorous skills, but gives great satisfaction as well.
Life through your hands?

I was born with a good aptitude for manual work. I see in my mind what I wanna realize, then I hand it over the material which is in front of me, often without drawing it first. It’s not easy to explain it in words. It’s a matter of natural gesture.

The first creation?

First time I touched clay I molded an hand, mine. Actually it was a sort of challenge against of my ability. I often do. And I do it because I’m curious, I can’t stand still, too many things fascinate me! That’s my selection technique: first I fix an ambitious task. If the result is positive, then I know that with hard work and devotion I can obtain good results. The hand had a number of defects, mainly due to the lack of anatomical studies, but my own selection was won! I may say it had been love at first touch! A love that is renewed every day!
Your desire?

I pursued this passion for 10 years jus for myself, or to create items to give to friends. I recently discovered the joy of sharing. Sharing means knowing that pieces to which I dedicated time, attention and love, have become part of someone else’s life. When a piece comes from your idea and your hands, you feel it truly yours, that’s your creature such a way. And it carries you within.

Being able to spread your creations it’s like reach yourself out, getting in touch with other people’s everyday life.
The compromise to achieve it?
I carry on double occupancy. Graphic designer in the office during the day and in the night, inside my lab, I let my imagination running free and give my pieces birth.
A deep passion is a great force that pushes you to find energy even when you think them to be over!
