I passed by late in the afternoon And the smile still played about her lips As it has for centuries. She always knows How to be utterly delightful. Oh my faughter, My sweetheart, daughter of my late employer, princess, May you not be long on the way!
PENSIERI DI UNA FANCIULLA
“La giornata è tanto bella che dovevo scriverti una lettera dalla torre, e dimostrarti che non sono folle: è solo che scivolai sulla saponetta dell'aria e affogai nella vasca da bagno del mondo. Fosti fin troppo cortese a piangermi tanto. Ora ti lascio in libertà. Firmato, Il Nano”.
Passai di là nel tardo pomeriggio e il sorriso ancora la giocava sulle labbra com'è stato per secoli. Lei sa sempre come essere assolutamente deliziosa. Oh figlia mia, mio tesoro, figlia della mia ex-padrona, principessa, che il cammino non ti sia interminabile!
