E finalmente nella più grande partita del weekend, l’Aston Villa ha ormai sicuramente sigillato il destino del QPR dopo 5 emozionanti gol al Villa Park: quando la partita era ferma sul 2-2 è arrivato il cruciale gol vincente di Benteke, per portare il Villa a 3 punti di distanza dalla retrocessione in 17esima posizione, nonostante il Wigan avesse la partita in pugno, lasciando il QPR e il Reading a 7 punti di distanza quando ormai le partite rimaste sono poche e ci sia bisogno di un miracolo per sopravvivere. The race for the top 4 is really hoting up now with Chelsea back up to 3rd 4 points behind city after a 2-0 home win over West Ham with Frank Lampard netting his 200th goal for the blues , the Hammers drop to 14th and are far from safe yet. Tottenham suffered back to back defeats and drop to 4th after a shock 1-0 home loss to Fulham with Berbatov getting the only goal , a result which just about secures Fulham’s safety as they climb to 10th. Arsenal are suddenly right back in contention after a solid 2-0 win at Swansea with goals from Monreal and Gervinho to stay 5th 4 points behind Spurs with a game in hand still , Swansea stay 9th. At the bottom things are getting tight , Sunderland and Norwich drew 1-1 at the stadium of light , a better result for Norwich who played much of the game with 10 men , it leaves neither side completely safe with Norwich 12th and Sunderland 15th just 4 points above the bottom 3. Wigan are making there usual great escape bid as a last gasp Kone winner gave them a hard earned 2-1 home win over Newcastle at the Dw stadium , they stay in 18th but with a crucial game in hand over the others , Newcastle are up to 13th despite the defeat but are far from safety just yet. And finally in the biggest game of the weekend Aston villa surely sealed Qpr’s fate after edging a 5 goal thriller at Villa park , with the game poised at 2-2 Benteke netted a crucial late winner to move Villa 3 points clear of the drop zone in 17th tho Wigan do have that game in hand , it leaves Qpr and Reading 7 points adrift with games running out and needing a miracle to survive. With international football next weekend the premiership takes a 2 week break before returning for the crucial end of season run in.
