The other day I was reading a wonderful article about the life of the cougars in the United States. So I thought out that each animal - beyond our buildings and our cities- lives near to us- the humans, very pesky neighbors.In Italy there are 57,000 species of animals. We have to take care about our cohabitation and we should be more attentive to their needs. So I have been happy when I discovered some Italian projects to help our friends animals.The last summer I had known the important work made by the Fondazione cetacea that helps a lot the turtles . In my research I found many associations for the animals, but what surprised me most was to discover the Italian government’s project to safeguard the Italian biodiversity.

They have organized a census to understand the health status of the every species .The main purposes are to protect the species and their environment . Anyway the problems are many. There are some areas where the human presence has destroyed the environment. One example can be the "land of fires ", an area wrongly used as a landfill that has absorbed toxic substances becoming dangerous even for those who live there . In any case, there are many projects to safeguard the delicate biodiversity. An important turning point was in 1992 when passed an important law. This established the main points for the protection of the environment . Could you imagine Lampedusa or Conero’s beaches without turtles ? Impossible! Could you imagine the Italian Apennine without wolf ?No! I could not imagine to not see anymore the fox that comes and eat the leftovers that I leave when I'm at mountains. The same for the porcupine that eat the plums falling from the two plum trees I have at mountain. Why I’m saying this? Because I'm just happy to know that in Italy many authorities are interested in the environmental protection and I hope all the projects will become more and more real . Any way I will introduce you some species we have here soon!

L’altro giorno stavo leggendo un meraviglioso articolo su una rivista riguardo ai puma negli Stati Uniti e mi è venuto in mente come ogni animale , al di là dei nostri palazzi e delle nostre costruzioni, continui a convivere con noi esseri umani che siamo comunque dei vicini un po’ fastidiosi. In Italia sono state riconosciute 57.000 specie di animali, ma per far sì che la nostra convivenza continui bisogna diventare più attenti alle loro esigenze. Mi sono tranquillizzata nel sapere che in Italia esiste comunque la volontà di voler contribuire a mantenere i nostri amici animali sul nostro territorio. Già questa estate mi ero avvicinata al lavoro della fondazione cetacea, che aiuta molto le tartarughe. Approfondendo la mia ricerca ho scoperto tante associazioni ma la cosa che mi ha stupito di più è stato scoprire che il governo ha finanziato dei progetti per la difesa della biodiversità che implicano una sorta di censimento per capire lo stato di salute delle varie specie. I principali intenti sono sia tutelare la specie che l’ambiente in cui l’animale vive.Con questo non voglio dire che non vi siano problemi, anzi. Purtroppo ci sono aree su cui la mano dell’uomo ha creato dei veri e propri problemi ambientali, si veda l’attuale discussione su quella che chiamiamo la “ terra dei fuochi” , un’area indebitamente sfruttata come discarica che ha assorbito nell’habitat sostanza tossiche diventando pericolosa anche per chi ci vive. In ogni caso c’è chi si impegna a mantenere questa importante e delicata biodiversità. Un grasso passo avanti fu fatto nel 1992 quando fu promulgata una legge che stabiliva i principali punti per la tutela della fauna. Potreste pensare la spiaggia di Lampedusa o il Conero senza tartarughe? Potreste pensare l’appenino senza il lupo? Non potrei pensare di rinunciare alla volpe che viene a mangiare i resti di carne che le lascio quando sono in montagna o il riccio che mi mangia le prugne che cadono dai due alberi di prugne che ho sempre in montagna e quindi? Sono semplicemente contenta di sapere che c’è un impegno in Italia condiviso da molti a favore della tutela ambientale e faccio il tifo perché possa diventare sempre più saldo.
