"It all started as a joke. I wanted a winter hobby for me and my uncle. We are both motorcycle enthusiasts. I have a Multistrada 1200S and my uncle a Ducati Panigale. Well, what to do during the winter? Buy a 2005 Ducati 749S and turn it into a unique bike. The bike was originally red frame and gray circles. I just didn’t like it..." Umberto Panarotto 

"Tutto è cominciato per scherzo. Volevo un hobby invernale per me e mio zio. Siamo entrambi appassionati di moto. Io ho una multistrada 1200. Mio zio una ducati Panigale. Beh, che fare durante l’inverno? Comprare una ducati 749S del 2005 e farla diventare una moto unica. La moto in origine era rossa con telaio e cerchi grigi. Proprio non mi piaceva..." Umberto Panarotto 

The donor bike was completely dismantled and the engine completely overhauled. "Since the engine was opened we chose to paint the crankcases embossed black, Harley style. Once the engine was reassembled, we found the result was fantastic. Then we had to paint the tank and the frame in glossy black". The wheels were painted glossy black as well, but the edges were polished.
La moto è stata interamente smontata e il motore completamente revisionato. “Visto che era aperto abbiamo scelto di verniciare i carter in nero goffrato tipo Harley. Riassemblato il motore, il risultato era fantastico. Poi abbiamo fatto verniciare il serbatoio e il telaio in nero lucido”. Anche i cerchi hanno subito la stessa sorte, ma i bordi sono stati lucidati.

The new tail and the seat are custom made. The muffler is Virex, from Padua.

The stock gauges were ok, but the vertical layout wasn’t suitable for a naked. So a minimal digital instrument was chosen. Adapting it to the Ducati’s electronics gave our friends a few headaches.
La strumentazione originale era gradevole, ma il layout a sviluppo verticale non poteva essere mantenuto. Così è stato scelto uno strumento digitale dal minimo ingombro. Ma l’adattamento a l’elettronica Ducati ha dato non pochi mal di testa ai nostri amici.

Ain't easy to turn a dressed bike into a pretty naked. And our heroes opted for a vintage round headlight to eliminate the insect look of the original headlights. The new bar-end rear mirrors were chosen vintage style as well.
Non è facile rendere bella da nuda una moto che nasce vestita. E i nostri eroi hanno optato per un faro tondo in stile retrò per eliminare il look da insetto che la moto avrebbe avuto con i fari originali. Anche gli specchietti bar-end sono in stile vintage.

The Showa front suspension was replaced with the Ohlins forks from a 1198S. The triple clamps were CNC machined and anodized black. Brake discs are Braking while the radial calipers are Brembo. The clip-on’s were slighlty raised to give a more comfortable riding position. 
L’avantreno Showa è stato sostituito con la forcella Ohlins di una Ducati 1198 s. Le piastre di sterzo sono state ricavate dal pieno e anodizzate nere. I dischi sono Braking e le pinze Brembo radiali. I semimanubri sono stati rialzati per dare una posizione di guida più comoda.
