A dominare è stato Lincoln, il biopic di Steven Spielberg si è assicurato ben 10 candidature, bene anche Vita di Pi e Les Misérables con 9, sono 8 per Skyfall e ben 7 per Argo di Ben Affleck.
Tra le delusioni o meglio dire sorprese spiccano le assenze nella sezione miglior regista del 2012 di Steven Spielberg e Tom Hooper visto che i loro film hanno stradominato.
