Roubaix nera per la Farnese Vini Selle Italia

All’albergo San Janshof, Quartier Generale della Farnese Vini Selle Italia, c’è un po’ di dispiacere per l’epilogo della Parigi – Roubaix 2012. Il Capitano del team Filippo Pozzato, dopo l’ottimo secondo posto al Giro delle Fiandre, ha avuto una Parigi – Roubaix sfortunata, a cui si è aggiunto un errore che, alla fine della corsa, si è dimostrato fatale:

“Pippo ha perso l’attimo, quando Boonen e Terpstra hanno allungato lui era li e ha perso tempo a discutere con Ballan che in quel momento non tirava”.

Luca Scinto è chiaro nel suo giudizio, come nel riconoscere che il suo corridore sarebbe stato l’unico capace di reggere la forza di tornado Boonen:

“Quegli attimi sono fatali. Se siamo amareggiati, e anche Pippo lo è, è perchè sappiamo che Filippo era in condizione, pronto, l’unico che avrebbe potuto reggere Boonen fino alla fine. Siamo rammaricati solo per questo, perchè con un Pozzato così forte è un peccato non aver poter fare la corsa”.

L’analisi va avanti, e Pozzato aggiunge altri lucidi dettagli:

“Quando Boonen ha attaccato, dopo la foresta, sono stato io il primo a seguirlo. Stavo bene, c’ero e siamo andati via in cinque. A quel punto, il gruppetto dietro stava rientrando ed e stata questione di attimi, Boonen e Terpstra hanno allungato, io non li ho seguiti subito. Ma nel gruppetto c’erano tre BMC e quattro Sky, pensavo che avrebbero chiuso. Mancavano ancora quasi sessanta chilometri (…) Invece Tom ha volato, e io sono finito a terra”.

Una caduta, quella di Pozzato a circa 45 km dall’arrivo, che ha tagliato fuori il talento di Sandrigo:

“Si, avrei potuto seguire Boonen, ma avrei anche potuto giocarmi la corsa diversamente. Cadendo purtroppo sono uscito di scena senza poter fare più niente, peccato”.

Peccato anche per i postumi dell’incidente: Pozzato ha il polpaccio destro gonfio e una coscia malconcia, ma si dovrebbe riprendere presto.

Per il resto, il team ha lavorato compatto e bene per il suo leader, con un Oscar Gatto presente anche lui sfortunato (entrato su una caduta, ha poi forato in un momento clou) e un Kevin Hulsmans speciale, come sempre, poi 17° all’arrivo.

A fell which closed the games for the team and now it worried the team, since Pozzato has the swollen calf and thigh. But he should recover well and soon.

For the rest, the team worked well with Oscar Gatto unlucky (he arrived long on a fell and then he punctures his tire) and Kevin Hulsmans, a guarantee, 17th in the velodrome.
