sciarpa incrociata - criss cross scarf

qualche anno fa ho ricevuto questa sciarpa da alessia come parte di uno swap. mi è piaciuto molto il colore, la lana e com'era lavorata, ma non riuscivo ad  inossarla bene.
a few years back i received this scarf from alessia as part of a swap. i really liked the color, the yarn and how it's worked, but i couldn't figure out how to wear it properly.

forse doveva andare proprio così, ma a me piacciono le sciarpe che vanno bene contro la gola per tenerla al calduccio.
perhaps it's supposed to be worn like this, but i prefer scarves that can be pulled tight against my neck to keep it cozy.
 
sono stata ispirata da questa sciarpa incrociata dal libro 101 designer yarn stash wonders che volevo fare ai ferri ma non ero riuscita a capire come farla.
i was inspired by this criss-cross scarf from the book 101 designer yarn stash wonders which i'd wanted to knit, but wasn't able to figure out.

quindi ho deciso di convertire questa mia sciarpa il meglio che potevo con la macchina da cucire. prima ho cucito due linee vicine e ho tagliato la sciarpa tra queste cuciture per aprirla. è importante cucire la lana, se no rischi che si disfa. 
so i decided to refashion this cowl scarf as best i could with the sewing machine. first i sewed two parallel lines close to each other and cut the scarf between them to open it up. it's important to sew the yarn first or else it could unravel.

poi ho piegato i  due bordi all'indietro, cercando di fare una sagoma curva. ho cucito i bordi e ho tagliato via la lana in eccesso. non sono venuti benissimo nè uguali, ma non fa niente...
then i folded the two ends backwards, trying to make a nice curved edge. i sewed the edges down and cut off the excess. they didn't come out perfect nor particularly even, but whatever...

poi ho cucito due asole grandi e ho tagliato la lana in mezzo.
then i sewed two big buttonholes and snipped the yarn in the middle.

et voilà! ecco la nuova sciarpa! si deve infilare una estremità dentro quelle due asole per chiuderla intorno alla gola.
and voilà! there's the new scarf! you slip the end of it into those two holes to tighten it around your neck.

così! be', non è carina quanto quella del libro, ma ora almeno la userò!
like this! well, it's not quite as cute as the one in the book, but at least now i'll actually wear it!

p.s. vedete quei capelli? non ce la faccio più!! sto per tagliarli corti, corti!!
