Una nuova puntata per la serie Cucito Facile, questa volta anche con un cartamodello scaricabile (gratis) per ì cucire un bavaglino bordato con lo sbieco, chiuso con l'elastico così da consentire ai bimbi della scuola dell'infanzia di essere autonomi nell'indossarlo e toglierlo.

Suggerimenti:
La spugna può essere acquistata al metro al negozio oppure si possono riutilizzare degli asciugamani, per un'operazione di riuso creativo!
Il nastro sbieco può essere acquistato in merceria oppure prodotto in casa, riutilizzando una stoffa qualsiasi, in tela di cotone (è pratico usare vecchie federe o lenzuola).

Suggestions:
The terrycloth can be purchased by the meter to the store or you can re-use towels, for an operation of creative upcycle! The bias tape can be purchased in haberdashery or produced at home, reusing a cloth all in cotton (it is practical to use old pillowcases or sheets).
PARTIAMO... LET'S GO!
1) Posizioniamo il cartamodello sulla spugna (attenzione al verso del pelo, qualora ci fosse, che deve andare verso il basso per evitare effetti visivi poco piacevoli); visto che i bavaglini andranno finiti sul bordo vivo con lo sbieco, al cartamodello NON vanno aggiunti i margini di cucitura: procediamo quindi a ritagliare la stoffa (è possibile spillare o bloccare coi pesi il modello alla stoffa e ritagliare il bordo, oppure delinearne il contorno con un pennarello e poi ritagliare lungo la linea, come preferite!)
1) Position the pattern on the terrycloth (pay attention to the direction of the nap of the terrycloth, if there is one, he has to go high-down to avoid unpleasant visual effects), and since the bibs will be finished on the sharp edge with the bias, the pattern DO NOT NEED seam allowances: then proceed to cut the fabric (you can pin or weight fabric and pattern to cut along the edge, or you can sketch the outline with a marker and then cut along the line, as you prefer!)

2) Per evitare che la spugna si sfilacci troppo, conviene rifinire i bordi con uno zig-zag o con la tagliacuci, dopo aver "sbattuto" bene i bavaglini appena ritagliati, per far cadere i pezzi di filato di troppo.
2) To prevent the terrycloth from fraying too much, you should finish the edges with a zig-zag or with the serger, after shakeing well bibs just cut to bring down the exceeding pieces of yarn.
3) Iniziamo ad applicare lo sbieco partendo da uno dei due asterischi, aprendo una delle due alette e facendo combaciare i margini del bavaglino con il margine aperto dello sbieco, diritto dello sbieco contro rovescio del bavaglino; fisiamo con gli spilli tutto intorno, poi cuciamo in corrispondenza della piega dello sbieco.
3) Let's start applying the bias, starting from one of the asterisks, opening one of the two wings and matching the edge of the bib with the open edge of the bias, bias against wrong side of the terrycloth; pin all around, then sew on the foldline of the bias;

4) Prendiamo lo sbieco e lo "avvolgiamo" intorno al margine del bavaglino, rinchiudendolo; fissiamo con gli spilli tutto intorno, poi cuciamo lungo la piega, sullo sbieco, da diritto.
4) Take the bias and "wrap it" around the edge of the bib, enclosing it; pin all around, then sew along the fold, on the bias, on the right side of the bib;

5) Ripetiamo il procedimento lungo lo scollo

6) Uniamo per il lungo due pezzi di sbieco della lunghezza di circa 40 cm; fissiamo con uno zig-zag l'elastico all'interno dello sbieco piegato a metà per lungo poi cuciamolo al bavaglino in uno dei due punti indicati con l'asterisco * sul cartamodello, facendo avanti e indietro con uno zig-zag largo e corto.
6) Let's sew two 40 cm pieces of bias along the length; now we fix with a zig-zag the elastic inside the bias folded in half lengthwise then we sew it to the bib in one of the two points marked with an asterisk * on the pattern, making back and forth with a zig-zag wide and short.

Stitch the elastic inside the bi-bias - Cucire l'elastico dentro al bi-sbieco
7) Tenendo l'elastico in tensione, cuciamolo all'interno dello sbieco, sempre con lo zig zag o con un punto diritto, fino ad arrivare all'estremità dell'elastico; pieghiamo all'interno lo sbieco e fissiamolo all'altro punto indicato con l'asterisco allo stesso modo dell'altro capo.
7) Holding the elastic in tension within the bias, let's sew it with the zig zag or with a straight stitch, up to the end of the elastic; then we bend inside the bias and stitch it to the other asterisk point in the same way of the other end.

Sew along the opened side of the bi-bias, stretchin the elastic - Cucire il lato aperto del bi-sbieco, tirando l'elastico
Et voilà :)
Et voilà: il bavaglino è pronto; eventualmente è possibile decorarlo con applique, ricami, magari il nome del bambino... noi siamo piuttosto spartani, quindi lo lasciamo così, neutro!
Et voilà: the bib is ready, or it is possible to decorate with applique, embroidery, maybe the baby's name ... we are rather Spartans, so we leave it like that, plain!
