Singolare caccia alle balene in Australia

In Australia si è aperta la stagione della caccia alle balene. Caccia che, questa volta, non si porta a termine armati di arpioni alla maniera del capitano Achab, ma con macchine fotografiche, videocamere e teleobiettivi. Perché quello appena iniziato è il periodo del whale watching, che coincide con l'inizio dell'inverno australe nel Nuovo Galles del Sud.
Le balene, a partire dal 1° giugno, iniziano la loro migrazione dalle acque meridionali, che cominciano a diventare fredde, fino ai più caldi mari del Nord: la migrazione prosegue per i mesi di luglio e agosto, mentre da settembre a novembre gli enormi cetacei percorrono la strada inversa, tornando nuovamente verso Sud. E mostrandosi ancora una volta agli occhi stupefatti dei whale watchers.
