Passata da pochi anni a miglior vita ( il 18 giugno del 2008 inprocinto di compiere 93 anni ) l'illustratrice e scrittrice di libri per fanciulli Tasha Tudor credo rimarrà per sempre ricordata soprattutto per la sua scelta di vita che la condusse a trascorrere la propria esistenza, insieme con la sua famiglia, secondo le usanze ed i metodi caratteristici del secolo scorso, per instaurare un rapporto più diretto con la Natura e con gli esseri viventi, rifiutando tutto ciò che appartiene al progresso del nostro secolo, responsabile innanzitutto del nostro allontanamento da ciò che più fa parte del semplice e naturale vivere quotidiano.Nata nel 1915 a Boston, Massachussets, Natasha Tudor sposò Thomas McCready nel 1938 a Redding, nel Connecticut con il quale acquistò una grande vecchia fattoria a Webster, New Hampshire, dove crebbero i loro quattro figlioli,
Bethany, Seth, Thomas, ed Efner e dove scrisse il suo primo racconto, Pumpkin Moonshine,
pubblicato nel 1938; divorziarono nel 1961, ed suoi figli legalmente cambiarono il loro nome da McCready in Tudor; un successivo matrimonio con Allan John Woods, durò solo per un breve periodo.Sono un centinaio i testi che si contano da lei scritti ed illustrati,

senza fare menzione delle numerose cartoline augurali spesso a tema natalizio
che recano la sua firma, alcuni divenuti famosi e degni di riconoscimenti, ed eredi di questa sua arte sono tutt'oggi la figlia Bethany ed il nipote Efner.
Ella visse la maggior parte della sua vita a Marlboro, nel Vermont,
in una casa fatta similemente a quella di alcuni amici del New Hampshire, per la realizzazione della quale fu aiutata dal figlio Seth il quale le visse accanto con la sua famiglia fino alla fine dei suoi giorni. Nei documentari Drawn from New England, e The Private World of Tasha Tudor venne filmata questa straordinaria signora d'altri tempi e d'altri valori nel suo vivere quotidiano ed in queste ultime fotografie cercherò, per quanto meglio mi è possibile, di rendervi edotti sulle sua unicità della sua sensibilità e del suo modo di assaporare ogni singolo istante delle sue giornate in ambienti che ricreavano quelli delle generazioni che la precedettero, che senza alcun dubbio ammirava ed i cui principi cercò in ogni modo di far propri e di perpetuare per le generazioni a venire.
"Perché le donne vogliono vestirsi come gli uomini quando hanno la fortuna di essere donne? Perché perdere la nostra femminilità, che è uno dei nostri più grandi elementi di fascino? Otteniamo molto di più ad essere affascinanti che dall'andare in giro vestendo pantaloni e fumando. Io ho una grande passione per gli uomini. Penso che siano meravigliose creature. Ma questo non significa che voglia apparire come uno di loro . "

Tasha Tudor riscoprì, in una vita fatta e vissuta giorno per giorno, secondo i ritmi ed i modi degli inizi del XIX secolo, l'antico sapore del valore della fatica,
della conquista e della gioia della riuscita nelle avversità,
della condivisione di sorgivi affetti e legami
della riscoperta di antiche arti e tradizioni ormai soppiantate dal progresso
e quanto bisogno ogni essere umano abbia della Natura per chiudere gli occhi, ogni sera, una volta rimboccate le coperte, con il cuore traboccante di una gioia davvero profonda, ineguagliabile, indescrivibile, la gioia di aver vissuto una giornata e di averla guadagnata, conquistata, meritata !
La vita di Tasha Tudor fu un Inno alla semplicità, alla semplicità di cuore, alla semplicità dei gesti quotidiani, alla semplicità del fare e del sentire, alla semplicità di Amare.

Past a few years ago to a better life (on June 18th, 2008 about to fulfill 93 years) the illustrator and writer of books for children Tasha Tudor, I think she'll remain forever remembered especially for her way of life that led her to spend her days together with her family, according to the customs and methods characteristic of the XIXth century, with the intention of establish a more direct relationship with the Nature and with living beings, rejecting everything that belongs to the progress of our century, primarily responsible for the our going away from that which is most part of our natural daily living.
Born in 1915 in Boston, Massachusetts, Natasha Tudor married Thomas McCready in 1938 in Redding, Connecticut, with which she bought a large old farm in Webster, New Hampshire, where they grew their four children,

Bethany, Seth Thomas, and Efner and where she wrote and illustrated her first story, Pumpkin Moonshine,
published in 1938; they divorced in 1961, and their children changed legally their surname from McCready in Tudor; a subsequent marriage with John Allan Woods, lasted only for a short time.
They're about one hundred the books that she wrote and illustrated,

without mentioning the many greeting cards often on the subject of Christmas

that bear her signature, some of which became famous and worthy of recognition, and heirs of this wonderful art of hers are still today her daughter Bethany and her grandson Efner.
She lived most of her life in Marlboro, Vermont,

in a house made like that of some friends of hers living in New Hampshire, for the realization of which she was helped by her son Seth, who will live next to her with his family until the end of her days.
The documentaries Drawn from New England, and The Private World of Tasha Tudor filmed this extraordinary lady of the past and of other values in her everyday life and in these photographs I will try, as best as I can, to make you acquainted on the uniqueness of her sensitivity and on her way to savor every moment of her days in an environment that recreated those of the generations that preceded her, which with no doubt she admired so much and whose principles and values she tried in every way to make hers and to perpetuate for the generations to come.

Tasha Tudor's life was a Hymn to simplicity, the simplicity of heart, the simplicity of everyday life, the simplicity of doing and feeling, the simplicity of Love.
