TGS Awards 2015: and the winner is…

Proprio per il fatto che questo post coinvolge in misura importante i nostri collaboratori inglesi, si è deciso di provvederne alla pubblicazione sia in inglese che in italiano.

Premio “Centro TGS dell’Anno”: il vincitore è….

E’ tradizione che  con l’avvicinarsi della fine dell’anno, si avvii il conto alla rovescia e ci si dia dei buoni propositi per l’anno che sta per iniziare. Al TGS stiamo facendo qualcosa di più: prendiamo in considerazione l’anno che volge al termine per una valutazione complessiva dello stesso e per rivedere le iniziative di cui l’Associazione è stata protagonista. Molto si è già raccontato nella Newsletter inviata qualche giorno fa (se ve la foste fatta fuggire siete ancora in tempo per leggerla, basta raggiungere il link “Season’s Greetings from TGS Eurogroup (TGS Newsletter no. 22 – UK Edition, December 2015)”), ma c’è ancora qualcosa di cui vorremmo parlarvi.

Come noto, al termine dell’esperienza estiva, chiediamo la collaborazione degli studenti e delle loro famiglie italiane per la compilazione di un questionario che copre i diversi ambiti della permanenza dei nostri studenti in Inghilterra e ci permette di raccogliere e confrontare i ritorni così ottenuti. Le risposte ottenute sono per noi stimolo per la programmazione delle attività dell’esitate successiva: ci mettiamo al lavoro per ridurre il gap tra il servizio atteso dai nostri utenti e l’effettiva offerta, al contempo facciamo il possibile per migliorare quegli aspetti in cui percepiamo che i nostri ragazzi si sarebbero attesi di più.

A differenza di altre associazioni che offrono vacanze studio in Inghilterra, il TGS preferisce l’ospitalità in famiglia rispetto alla permanenza presso i college. Gran parte del lavoro nostro e dei collaboratori inglesi – gli Agenti Locali – gravita intorno a questo ed alla possibilità di trovare buone famiglie ospitanti. Nonostante sia evidente che l’aspetto cultuale gioca un ruolo non indifferente da ambo le parti, abbiamo imparato nel tempo che gran parte dei ritorni positivi che otteniamo dai nostri studenti e dalle loro famiglie è connesso con il loro livello di soddisfazione per l’esperienza fatta in famiglia. Questo post intende pertanto rivolgere un grazie a tutti coloro che, in quella parte del Mondo  chiamata Inghilterra, lavorano con impegno per permetterci di portare a termine con successo ogni giorno della nostra permanenza. Di anno in anno, abbiamo raccolto riscontri significativi; questo ci ha spinto a trovare una maniera per condividere con i nostri collaboratori i ritorni positivi e abbiamo così deciso di istituire un “Premio al Centro TGS dell’Anno”.

• Come lo eleggiamo?

Sulla base degli esiti dei questionari annuali di cui vi abbiamo parlato in apertura a questo articolo.

• Quali aspetti sono rilevanti per ottenere tale Premio?

1. ACCOGLIENZA della famiglia (disponibilità al dialogo e coinvolgimento nella vita familiare);
2. POSIZIONE della casa (distanza dalla scuola e qualità del quartiere);
3. QUALITÀ e comfort dell’ALLOGGIO (camera da letto, servizi, spazi comuni);
4. PULIZIA della casa;
5. QUALITÀ e varietà del CIBO (colazione, packed lunch, cena).

• Come si ottiene il punteggio?

Ciascuno dei cinque aspetti elencati nel questionario prevedeva un punteggio da 1 (valutazione minima) a 5 (valutazione massima), ovvero una famiglia ospitante che avesse ottenuto 25 punti aveva manifestato massima scrupolosità nei medesimi.

• Quindi… quale centro TGS ha vinto l’edizione 2015?

Il punteggio medio più alto, pari a 20,37 su 25, si è raggiunto a Tonbridge. Tonbridge, pertanto, ha vinto il Premio “Centro TGS dell’Anno”; inoltre, si è provveduto anche a consegnare a Mrs Hack un riconoscimento specifico e dedicato quale  famiglia di Tonbridge che ha raggiunto il maggior punteggio. A questa è stato consegnato il Premio “Famiglia TGS dell’Anno”!

TGS Centre of the Year: and the Winner is…

Now that 2015 is about to finish, it’s time for the countdown and for making resolutions for the New Year. At the same time, at TGS we are looking back to see the most relevant events involving our Association throughout the year.  Much has already been said in the Newsletter (in case you’ve missed it, it’s never too late to read it – just click on  https://tgseurogroup.wordpress.com/2015/12/24/seasons-greetings-from-tgs-eurogroup-tgs-newsletter-no-22-uk-edition-december-2015) but there still is something we would like to spend a few words on.

Every year we ask our students and their Italian families to complete a questionnaire which covers different areas of the students’ experience in England. The main purpose for this is to allow the Association to improve by collecting and comparing the points of views of its users. Feedbacks help us to plan the following year experience. We do our best to reduce the gap between expectations and supply and we work as hard as possible in those areas where we feel we are asked more.

Unlike other associations, TGS promotes family living instead of college accommodation. Much of our work and that of our English collaborators – so called Local Agents – is that of engaging desirable families for our students. Although culture plays an important role on both sides, we have learnt that much of the appreciation we get year after year comes from the satisfaction rate concerned with accommodation standards. These few lines are meant to thank everybody on “that side of the World called England” who work hard to help us to succeed in every single day of our summer stay. Year by year, we have collected a number of significant feedbacks that have encouraged us to find a way to make our English friends benefit from the same very outcomes. That’s one of the reasons we have promoted a special Award for the TGS Centre of the Year.

• How do we elect it?

According to the answers of the above mentioned yearly questionnaire about TGS experience.

• What issues are particularly relevant for winning the Award?

1. WELCOME from family members (willingness to talk talk to the students and involve them in family life)
2. LOCATION of the house (distance from school and quality of neighbourhood)
3. HOUSE STANDARDS and comfort (bedroom, bathroom/toilet, common rooms)
4. HOUSE CLEANLINESS
5. FOOD QUALITY and diversity (breakfast, packed lunch, dinner)

• How do we get the score?

Each one of all 5 features is given a score from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), meaning that a host family having a total score of 25 excelled in each feature.

• So what TGS Centre won the 2015 edition of the Award?

The best average score was 20,37 out of 25 and resulted to be in Tonbridge. Therefore, Tonbridge won the “TGS Centre of the Year” Award; within this group of families, Mrs Hack scored the highest average score and received the “TGS Host Family of the Year” Award.

Well done Tonbridge and congratulation from everybody at TGS!
