Questa appena passata è stata una lunga notte che ha portato alla premiazione dei migliori film dell'anno secondo gli Academy Awards, i cosiddetti Oscar del cinema, un lungo red carpet ed una cerimonia poco fuori dagli schemi, eccezion fatta per l'esibizione del Cirque de Soleil, non hanno scostato lo sguardo dalla sfida tra Hugo e The Artist.
I due film favoriti alla fine si sono spartiti ben 5 statuette a testa, ma la differenza sta nel fatto che se per Hugo di Martin Scorsese si è trattato di premi tecnici (Suono, Effetti Visivi, Scenografia - Dante Ferretti) per The Artist di Michel Hazanavicius si è trattato di dominio per i premi più importanti (Regia, Miglior Film, Miglior Attore).
Insomma i 5 oscar assegnati a The Artist suonano più come una vittoria schiacciante sia sul rivale che sugli altri che si son dovuti accontentare solo delle briciole.
Briciole per modo di dire, The Iron Lady ne ha vinti due tra cui quello per la miglior attrice andata alla grande Meryl Streep; Millennium, The Help e Rango vincono un oscar a testa, particolare la vittoria di quest'ultimo nella categoria miglior film d'animazione, il film di Gore Verbinski batte Kung Fu Panda 2 e rompe un egemonia della Pixar che durava oramai da 5 anni.
Chiudiamo con i due oscar alle sceneggiature che vanno a Midnight in Paris di Woody Allen e Paradiso Amaro di Alexander Payne.
