The Christmas markets are a real institution in some Italian cities and a major event for the lovers of the Christmas. Touristic tours are organized to visit all the Christmas markets: they are therefore become a real tourist attraction. In the post I had described the market in Merano
We do not travel a lot to arrive in Bolzano and Bressanone: the culture of the Christmas markets in this region is very popular: it is linked mainly to the German culture that is geographically close. Over the years this tradition has been included with the traditional fabric of Trentino Alto Adige , creating an opportunity for the tourism e and a funny  occasion suitable for all ages.
Bolzano has organized the Christmas market from 22 years: it can be considered completely a tourist attraction, especially because this market highlights the  traditional and typical aspects of this area rich in folklore.
The fir tree is one of the traditions. The Christmas tree - originated from the ancient pagan traditions to celebrate the winter solstice- arrive just to the Christian tradition and was related with the Christmas time I have to admit that it is very nice!
Among the various stands there are many handicraft and  we  can buy an exclusive piece of the local products.

I love strolling around this market and I recommend it especially in the evening when the lights clear the stands. If you sniff at the air, you will smell  the  heady perfume of the cinnamon mixed with the sugar and the wood: this always gives me a feeling of comfort and warmth, and I remember the excitement of Christmas as a child!

You should not stop for a single market so I suggest you take the car and get to Bressanone. The market in this delightful town is all geared to the South Tyrolean products - mainly related to Christmas. While endorsed the marketplace of Bressanone, you can participate in many events that are organized every year. There are the exhibition, the marry-go-rounds for the children, the street musicians.
I think what makes this place unique in this moment is magical atmosphere that is created around the event of Christmas

I mercatini di Natale sono una vera a propria istituzione di alcune città Italiano ed un immancabile appuntamento per gli amanti del genere. Vengono organizzati dei tour organizzati per poterli vedere sono quindi oramai diventati una vera e propria attrazione turistica. Nel post vi avevo descritto il mercatino di Merano
Non ci spostiamo di molto per vedere quello di Bolzano e di Bressanone: la cultura dei mercatini di natale in questa regione è molto sentita e si allaccia soprattutto alla cultura tedesca che è geograficamente vicina. Negli anni questa tradizione si è inserita nel tessuto tradizionale del Trentino Alto Adige creando quindi un’occasione di turismo e di divertimento molto particolare ed adatta a tutte le età.
Sono 22 anni che Bolzano organizza il mercatino di natale: si può considerare un’attrazione turistica a tutti gli effetti soprattutto perchè questo mercatino mette in risalto gli aspetti tradizionali e tipici di quest’area ricca di tradizioni. L’abete bianco è una delle tradizioni caratteristiche di quest’area. L’albero di natale ha origine dalle antiche tradizioni pagane dove si festeggiava il solstizio d’inverno, la tradizione fu poi spostata sul natale e devo ammettere che è molto piacevole! Fra le varie bancarelle vi sono molti prodotti artigianali per cui un acquisto può essere un pezzo esclusivo della produzione locale. Non è da escludere dall’artigianato anche i prodotti culinari tipici di questa area come le frittelle di mele di cui trovate maggior specifiche nel mio post http://www.learnitalianow.net/2012/10/apple-panckakes-frittelle-di-mele-what.html il vin brulè , il delizioso strudel ( provatelo con crema di vaniglia calda sopra) Io adoro andare in giro per questo mercatino e ve lo suggerisco soprattutto verso sera quando incominciano ad illuminarsi le luci delle bancarelle. Se provate ad annusare l’aria sentirete profumi inebrianti di cannella che si mescola a quello di zucchero e  legno : mi da sempre una sensazione di conforto e  calore e mi ricorda l’entusiasmo del natale da bambini!

Non potete fermarvi ad un solo mercatino per cui vi suggerisco di prendere la macchina ed arrivare fino a  Bressanone. Il mercatino in questo delizioso paese è tutto orientato ai prodotti sudtirolesi soprattutto legati al natale. Mentre vistate il mercatino di Bressanone potete partecipare alle numerose manifestazioni che ogni anno vengono organizzate. Ci sono mostre, giostre per i bambini, suonatori di strada.  Penso che quello che rende unico questo posto in questo momento sia l’atmosfera magica che si genera intorno all’evento del Natale
