La nascita di Venere ( 1482-1485) è sicuramente una delle rappresentazioni più famose.
Una tela grossa di 172x 278 cm che potrete trovare alla Galleria degli Uffizi, Firenze. Luogo magico quel museo, sarete talmente circondati dalla bellezza dell'arte che quasi non saprete dove guardare, ma di cose da vedere ce ne sono tantissime.
Torniamo alla nostra Venere. Non esistevano né riviste , né media di alcun genere e i canoni di bellezza erano dettati dagli artisti. Sono anni dove il corpo femminile è morbido e ricco di curve, lontano dalle spigolosità dettate dalla moda degli ultimi anni. L'arte univa la bellezza alla prosperità, alla rotondità.
In questo contesto idilliaco Venere tenta di nascondere pudicamente il suo corpo e ad accorre in suo aiuto c'è una figura femminile identificabile come una delle Grazie o la ninfa Ora. Le figura umane sono disposte a formare un triangolo immaginario. Zaffiro soffia verso Venere creando maggiore movimento , Clori è unita in abbraccio a Zefiro, quasi ad evocare l'unione sessuale dei corpi. L'unico personaggio veramente frontale del quadro è Venere, se osservate la composizione gli altri tre personaggi sono tutti in tre quarti.
Eccoci nel Rinascimento italiano.
Molto forte il legame con il neoplatonismo, fenomeno diffuso in Firenze dopo la metà del XV secolo.

In XV century there were not magazines or any other media and the standards of beauty were dictated by the artists . For many centuries the female body was curvy , far from the angularity dictated by the modern fashion market. The art portrays the beauty with harmoniuos forms. In this idyllic setting Venus tries to hide her body and a female figure- identified as one of the Graces or the nymph Ora -gives her a cloak . All the human figures are arranged in a triangle . Sapphire blowing towards Venus creating more movement. Chloris and Zephyrus are joined in a hug - this evokes the sexual union of bodies. Only Venus has a frontal position, the other three characters are all in three-quarters . We are in the Italian Renaissance . There was a very strong link with Neoplatonism, widespread phenomenon in Florence in the second half of the fifteenth century. Venus ? She is the mother of all. She is the mother of love is, the only engine in the world. We can understand the meaning of love thanks to the sign , a basic expression for Botticelli's art. The sum of the signs and their expressions create- as Botticelli affirmed- the painting that expresses the idea and never the realty.
