The Italians are preparing for Christmas: Italian life

The streets are already all decorated with the Christmas lights and the shiny objects are on the shelves. In Italy it is time to get ready for Christmas. What's going on?
For the families with the children it's time to write a letter  to Santa Claus (my desire this year is to eat pizza for a whole day without getting fat and yours?), then buy the Advent calendar to open the boxes each day until Christmas. Begin the wild shopping for the gifts - I think this is the most hard part, the people are running around like the crazy ping pong balls to buy some gifts often unnecessary.

Have you write your letter to Santa Claus?

A technique- that some people use- is to recycle the gifts that they may not like. It takes some skill for this, because you have clearly remember that you have received the ugly frame from the Aunt Josephine and the awful object is from your mother-in-law. So in order to avoid to put up a poor show, you should check that the wrong recycled gift doesn’t end up under the wrong tree. I'm sure these gifts will continue to run from house to house ... who knows that one day it will return under our tree? I have enough memory to follow this practice ... I could make some incredible mistakes
The 8 December Italian people go in their cellar or in their attic: they take the Christmas trees and the Christmas crib from the old bags or  the boxes. The house is adorned with the decorations and the lights that shine straight ahead and bring us back to our childhood. The important thing is to be ready with the gifts, with the food and the decorations for the 24 December.
A suggest if you are in Italy: you should not do Christmas shopping (the food for lunch) on 23 or 24 December. Often in the supermarkets the cold cuts and the appetizers must be booked in advance, because the shelves are assaulted and you will not find anything!
Are you ready to visit all your relatives? Christmas is that in Italy, too. I know, I know this may seem hard but do not worry ... there's the 26 December to sleep and 27 December to get back on a diet : it is useful to put your dress for the New Year party.

Christmast time!

Le strade sono già tutte addobbate con le luci del natale ed oggetti brillanti sono sugli scaffali. In Italia è ora di prepararsi per il natale. Cosa succede? Per chi ha bambini è ora di scrivere la lettera  a babbo natale (il mio desiderio di quest’anno è di poter mangiare pizza per un giorno intero senza ingrassare e il vostro?), poi acquistiamo il calendario dell’avvento per aprire le caselline ogni giorno. Incomincia la corsa agli acquisti per i regali – questa secondo me è la parte più stancante, la gente è in giro come delle palline da ping pong impazzite a comprare oggetti spesso inutili. Una tecnica che alcuni usano è riciclare dei regali che magari non sono piaciuti. Ci vuole una certa abilità perché dobbiamo chiaramente ricordarci che la cornice così brutta ce l’ha regalata la zia Giuseppina e quell’oggetto di così pessimo gusto la suocera, così, per evitare delle figuracce è necessario che i regali riciclati non finiscano per sbaglio sotto l’albero di chi ce li ha regali. Sono sicura che questi regali continuano a girare di casa in casa…chissa mai che un giorno per strani giri non tornino sotto il nostro albero? Io ho troppa poca memoria per seguire questa pratica…fare degli errori incredibili. Il giorno 8 è ora di andare in cantina o in solaio: da vecchi sacchetti o  scatole vengono tirati fuori gli alberi di natale e i presepi. La casa si addobba con decorazioni che brillano e lucine che ci riportano dritti alla nostra infanzia. L’importante è essere pronti con i regali con il cibo e con le decorazioni per il 24. Un consiglio se siete in Italia: non fate la spesa di natale né il 23 né il 24 dicembre. Spesso nei supermercati i salumi e gli antipasti devono essere prenotati prima perché gli scaffali vengono presi d’assalto e non trovereste più niente! Siete pronti alle infinite visite dai parenti ? Natale in Italia è anche quello. Lo so , lo so può sembrare faticoso tutto ciò ma non preoccupatevi…c’è sempre il 26 per dormire e dal 27 dicembre epr rimettersi a dieta e tentare di entrare nell’abito per capodanno.
