The Sixties in the Guggenheim collections, Beyond Informal to Pop Art Arca, St Marco Church, Vercelli February 9 to May 12 2013
You must visit this exhibition! It creates a link between the American and Italian art. Taking place between the Church of San Marco and Arca, you can admire the art works of this period with significant iconographic art changes next to a medieval atmosphere. The exhibition is part of a larger project of the city of Vercelli entitled "Vercelli, fell in love with ... Art" . This project will promote the cultural awareness in the community and it wants to affirm Vercelli as an artistic destination. The exhibition is divided into three sections: the first represents the overcoming of the Informal Art toward a new trial, all the art works of this section are between  the fifties to the sixties. On eof the main artist is definitely Jean Dubuffet.

Willen de Koonig  and  Mark Rothko are the important artists in the second section dedicated to the Sixties with the experiments on  the sign and the matter, the monochrome and the space. In this context, Italian artists such as Enrico Castellani and Paolo Scheggi stand out alongside names such as Frank Stella and  Morris Louis – they also were in the Biennale di Venezia in 1964.
The third section is devoted to the study that leads to the new art  through the iconic representations and the new media. You will find the New Dada,  the Pop Art, and big names such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
This exhibition is a demonstration of how the artistic identity of  the Europe and the United States had started a season of the dialogue and the contacts that knocked down the geographical boundaries.

Gli anni Sessanta nella collezioni Guggenheim, Oltre l’Informale verso la Pop art Arca, Chiesa di San Marco , Vercelli 9 Febbraio – 12 Maggio 2013-03-18
Assolutamente da visitare! Questa mostra crea un legame tra l’arte Americana e quella Italiana. Svolgendosi tra  la Chiesa di San Marco ed Arca, è possibile ammirare le opere di questo periodo di grosso cambiamento iconografico nell’arte di fianco ad atmosfere di stampo medioevale. La mostra rientra in un progetto più ampio della città di Vercelli intitolato “ Vercelli, Innamor…Arte” che promuoverà la consapevolezza culturale  della comunità e mira ad affermare Vercelli come meta artistica.

La mostra si articola in tre sezioni: la prima rappresenta il superamento dell’Arte Informale verso una nuova sperimentazione , quindi  dagli anni Cinquanta al Sessanta. Spicca come artista Jean Dubuffet. Willen de  Koonig a Mark Rothko sono artisti portanti della sezione anni Sessanta con la loro sperimentazione del segno e della materia, del monocromo e dello spazio. In questo quadro emergono autori italiani come Enrico Castellani e Paolo Scheggi al fianco di nomi come Frank Stella, Morris Louis, presenti alla Biennale di Venezia del 1964. La  terza parte è dedicata  al percorso  che porta alla nuova raffigurazione attraverso novità iconiche  e mediatiche. Troverete New Dada, Pop Art,e grandi nomi come Andy Warhol e Roy Lichtenstein . Questa mostra è la dimostrazione di come le identità artistiche di Europa e Stati Uniti avessero aperto una stagione di dialogo e contatti che abbattevano i confini geografici
