A tre anni di distanza dal suo ultimo album pubblicato e a cinque anni dal suo debutto nel mondo della musica, l’italoaustraliana Gabriella Cilmi è pronta a lanciare il suo terzo album dal titolo “The Sting”, che da anche il nome al primo singolo di debutto.
Vi ricordate la timida ragazzina di appena 17 anni che nel 2008 cantava “Sweet About Me“? Beh, oggi quella ragazzina è cresciuta e ha deciso di mettere tutta la sua grinta e la sua femminilità nella realizzazione di un terzo album, dal titolo “The Sting“, da cui a breve sarà estrapolato anche un secondo singolo “Symmetry“.
“The Sting” sancisce la rottura definitiva di Gabriella Cilmi con la sua vecchia casa discografica, la Island Records, colpevole di voler trasformare la giovane cantante in una popstar ammiccante, provocante e ambigua, la Miley Cyrus dell’Australia, forse. Per questo a Digital Spy, Gabriella ha confessato:
“E’ la storia più vecchia del music business. Non voglio amareggiarmi ancora. Ho imparato molte cose nel modo più difficile, ho sentito che tutto veniva tolto dal mio controllo. Mi sono convinta a pensare che tutto andasse bene, ma continui a inciampare su te stesso quando le cose non vanno nel verso giusto.”
