OK, you are an avid reader and everything is never enough for you. The more you read, the more you want. How much does your reading passion cost to you?
Yes, I know, it’s better not to quantify it.
Ebooks have cut down the price of your passion, since the electronic book is way cheaper than the paperback. On one hand, the ease on publishing online has made everyone capable of writing a novel, therefore enlarging the range of the titles. More writers, more stuff to read: cool, isn’t it? On the other hand, the wider the range, the more chances to get something not properly well written – or worse, you can fall into a vortex of indecision: which ebook should I buy?
Since I’m an avid reader before being an avid author I’d like to share with you three safe and reliable websites when you can find high quality free ebooks or discounted ebooks.
You need just to sign up on them (like you did with Chase Williams crime mailing list) and choose your favourite genres to receive a daily/weekly emails with the best discounted or free ebooks available on the market.
These are three websites that supply my Kindle.
BookBub: it’s one of the biggest sites where to find limited-time free ebooks or discounted ebooks.
BookBub’s staff are extremely choosy and precise: every ebook that wants to be advertised on BookBub’s newsletter has to pass a very deep investigation. BookBub never advertises low quality ebooks or titles with few reviews or a poor cover.
BookBlast: it’s a bit smaller than BookBub in terms of readers subscriptions, however the quality of the free ebooks is pretty much the same. I chose to subscribe to the free ebooks of the day only, while I’m on sci-fi/crime/mystery/thriller lists elsewhere.
It’s very difficult to find the very same ebooks in different newsletters, therefore my choice assures me a more complete overview of the discounted and free ebooks on Amazon.
The Fussy Librarian: it’s one of the latest one blossomed on the web, but it immediately appeared to be a very serious and reliable one too. I’ve got the pleasure to exchange some emails with the mind behind the project, Jeffrey, who is an author himself and a passionate book lover.
The particular feature of The Fussy Librarian is that you can choose not only the genre you want to receive discounted and free ebooks proposal, but also the language, and the level of violence and sexual content. That librarian is very fussy indeed, I think it’s a very brilliant idea from Jeffrey.

OK, ammettilo, hai un problema: sei un grandissimo divoratore di libri e non ne hai mai abbastanza. Più ne leggi, e più ne vuoi leggere. Ma quanto ti costa questa passione per la lettura? Sì, lo so, certe volte è meglio non pensarci, e anzi, pensare che è tutta salute.
La nuova era degli ebook ha portato con sé un grandissimo abbattimento delle spese per i lettori: il libro elettronico è molto meno costoso di un libro cartaceo, rendendo la passione per la lettura meno gravosa sul bilancio mensile.
Da una parte, la facilità di pubblicazione online ha reso tutti quanti capaci di pubblicare un romanzo, ampliando così la varietà di titoli sul mercato degli ebook. Più autori, più roba da leggere: figo, no? Dall’altra parte, più ampio è lo spettro dei titoli, più possibilità ci sono di trovare qualche titolo non proprio scritto alla perfezione – o ancora peggio, di cadere nella rovinosa voragine dell’indecisione massima: quale libro dovrei acquistare?
Visto che prima di essere una inguaribile scrittrice sono un’inguaribile lettrice, voglio condividere tre affidabili siti web dove trovare libri gratuiti e libri scontati.
Per ricevere email giornaliere o settimanali con le segnalazioni dei libri gratuiti o scontati presenti sul mercato è necessario iscriversi alla mailing list (basta inserire l’indirizzo email come hai fatto per la mailing list di Chase Williams) e scegliere i generi letterari di cui si vuole ricevere notifiche.
Questi sono i tre siti che riforniscono il mio Kindle.
BookBub: è uno dei siti più importanti del web dove trovare libri gratuiti o scontati. Lo staff dietro le quinte di BookBub è estremamente esigente e pignolo: ogni libro che desidera entrare nella newsletter di BookBub deve passare un iter di selezione meticolosissima. BookBub non promuove mai ebook di bassa qualità o titoli con poce recensioni o con una copertina realizzata non professionalmente.
Nota di lingua: il 90% dei titoli è in lingua inglese.
BookBlast: è un pochino più piccolo di BookBub in termini di iscrizioni di lettori alla loro mailing list, pur avendo anch’esso un livello di qualità degli ebook proposti molto alta. Ho scelto di sottoscrivere su BookBlast il gruppo degli free ebooks of the day, visto che altrove ho sottoscritto i sottogeneri sci-fi/crime/mystery/thriller. É molto difficile trovare lo stesso libro proposto in diverse liste nello stesso momento, per cui con questo stratagemma riesco ad avere una più ampia visione generale dei libri gratuiti e scontati disponibili su Amazon.

The Fussy Librarian: è uno degli ultimi nati sul web tra i siti di questo genere, eppure in brevissimo tempo si è imposto tra i più affidabili e seri. Ho avuto il piacere di scambiare qualche email con la mente dietro il progetto, Jeffrey, lui stesso autore e voracissimo lettore. La particolarità di The Fussy Librarian è che puoi scegliere non solo il genere degli ebook gratuiti o scontati, ma anche la lingua, il livello di violenza e contenuti sessualmente espliciti. Questa bibliotecaria è davvero esigente (The Fussy Librarian significa La bibliotecaria esigente, appunto), credo che Jeffrey abbia avuto davvero un’idea molto intelligente, bravo lui.
