True Photos Fake Event

Se compaio in un’immagine vestito da astronauta, la gente penserà che sono stato sulla Luna?
Se fotografo moscerini spiaccicati sul parabrezza e chiamo la serie “costellazioni”, la gente penserà che sta guardando delle stelle?
Se creo una finta copertina di National Geographic con animali inventati, la gente crederà che sono – veri- scherzi della natura?

If I show myself in a picture dressed like an astronaut, will people think I have been on the moon?
If I photograph squashed flies on the windscreen and call the series “constellations”, will people think they’re looking at the stars?
If I create a fake cover of National Geographic with invented animal, will people believe that they are – real – freaks of nature?

Questo si chiedeva Joan Fontcuberta a partire dagli anni ’80, quando si chiudeva in camera oscura per fare fotomontaggi, cercando alla fine di far divertire – ma anche un po’ riflettere sul potere dei media – chi osservava.
La versione 2.0, la propone Ridiculo.us, con i suoi progetti impossibili e in particolare la sua finta maratona annuale, finanziata da progetti di crowdfunding.
Pigri burloni di tutto il mondo, armati di pettorina e magliette hanno corso… il tempo di farsi scattare una foto (magari davanti a un posto di ristoro), partecipando così alla più grande maratona finta del mondo. C’erano perfino le medaglie!
Ne hanno parlato Wired e il New York Observer. Potere della fotografia ma anche – soprattutto – dell’ironia!

This was asked by Joan Fontcuberta since the ’80s, when she locked herself into the dark room to make photomontages, looking to entertain the observers, at the end, but also reflecting a bit about the power of media.
Version 2.0 is the offer of Ridiculo.us, with its impossible projects and in particular its fake annual marathon, financed by crowdfunding projects.
Lazy pranksters around the world, armed with bib and t-shirts have ran… enough to have their picture (perhaps forward a rest stop). Thus, they took part in the biggest pretend marathon of the world. There were even some medals!
Wired and the New York Observer reported the news. Power of photography but also – and especially – of the irony!
