Turista? Sì, ma non darlo a vedere! / Tourist? Yes, but not showing it!

Come on, let's admit it: it's you in your holiday outfit!

Sembra quasi una regola anti borseggio, eppure è la maniera migliore per visitare una città da turista, soprattutto se vuoi agire e vivere la città come un autoctono.

Allora mettete via le baguette che avete sotto le ascelle a Parigi, la maglietta I-/cuore/-NY se siete nella Grande Mela e toglietevi dalla bocca quel ‘mate’ che appiccicate a ogni fine frase quando vi rivolgete a un londinese. Il modo migliore per vivere una città straniera non da straniero è non comportarsi da turista… ovvero comportarsi come uno di loro.

Un sito divertente – che ho scoperto grazie a NoBorders Magazine - ci mostra come non essere un turista in diverse capitali del mondo, da New York a Hong Kong, con una serie di elenchi, consigli e dettagli su come vestirsi, vivere e agire come un vero autoctono. Dato che sto incrociando le dita per vincere il concorso di Samsung Global Blogger, ho pensato che potesse essere di buon auspicio capire come avvicinarmi all’idea di vita londinese durante il periodo delle Olimpiadi.

Ho anche visto – tra l’altro – che Roma non è ancora presente… magari mando una email con due righe ;)

It seems like an anti-theft solution, but it’s the better way to live in a city as a tourist, especially if you want to experience the everyday life of a citizen.

So put away your French loaf if you are in Paris, your I-/heart/-NY t-shirt if you are in New York City and get off the mouth that ‘mate’ after every phrase talking with a Londoner. The best way to live a foreign city as a tourist not behaving like a tourist is… behave like one of them.

A funny website – which I discovered thanks to Italian NoBorders Magazine – shows us how not to be a tourist in several capital cities from New York to Hong Kong with a series of nice and ironic lists about how to dress, live and act like a local.
Since I’m keeping my fingers crossed to win Samsung Global Blogger contest, I though it was a great idea finding out how to seem like a Londoner during Olympic time.

I also saw that Rome is not present yet… I think I will email them ;)
