tutù e ali - tutu and wings

sono molto molto contenta...ho fatto i costumi di carnevale per i miei figli a mano e li ho finiti ben DUE giorni prima della festa della scuola di mia figlia! li ho finiti così presto che ho deciso di riprodurre due parti del costume di mia figlia per il regalo di compleanno di una sua amica. pubblico i costumi domani, ma per ora vi faccio vedere il tutù e le ali, travestimenti essenziali per una bimba fantasiosa! (indossati dalla sedia di mia figlia....)
i'm really really proud of myself...i made my kids' carnival costumes myself and i finished them a whole TWO days before my daughter's school party! i finished them so early that i decided to make a copy of two parts of my daughter's costume as a gift for her friend's birthday. i'll publish the costumes tomorrow, but for now i'll show you the tutu and wings, costume essentials for any imaginative little girl! (nicely modelled by my daughter's chair...)

anche se ho avuto un sacco di complimenti per i regali fatti a mano, non sono stata eccezionalmente originale; ho usato dei tutorial trovati online. ma non fa niente...
even if i got lots of compliments for the handmade gifts, i really wasn't particularly original; i used online tutorials to make them. but that doesn't really matter...
 
non ho fatto le foto della costruzione del tutù. ho seguito il metodo senza cucire di due tutorial, facendo dei nodi di tulle intorno alla corda elasticizzata (invece dell'elastico largo) come in questo tutorial e la dimensione delle strisce di tulle (circa 7,5 cm x 71 cm) usata in questo. per il tutù qui ho usato 20 strisce con i pois e 32 dello stesso colore senza pois (lo sapevate che quei pois si tolgono subito dal tulle nell'acqua? io no!) e mi sembra rendere una vaporosità giusta.
i didn't take pictures when making the tutu. i used the no-sew technique i found in two tutorials, knotting tulle around an elastic cord (instead of flat elastic) like in this tutorial and the size of the tulle strips (about 3 x 28 inches) used in this one. i used 20 strips of dotted tulle and 32 of the same color without dots (did you know that those dots wash right off of tulle? i sure didn't!) for this tutu and i think it makes the right amount of fluffiness.

ho fatto le foto per la costruzione delle ali, anche se si stava facendo buio, quindi non sono eccezionali. ma fanno capire. per il tutorial originale che ho seguito, guardate qui. si prendono due gruccie di metallo, si piegano in una forma di ala e si tagliano le curve da dove si appendono.
i did take pictures when making the wings, though it was getting dark so they're not particularly nice. but you get the idea. i copied this tutorial. you take two metal clothes hangers, bend them into a wing shape and cut off the top loops.

poi si avvolgono con dei gambaletti bianchi, fissando le estremità. poi si fanno due cerchi di elastico (ho sempre usato la corda elasticizzata).
then you wrap white knee-highs around them, wrapping something around the ends to keep them in place. then you make two loops of elastic (i used elastic cord again).

nel tutorial originale, si fissava il tutto solo con la colla a caldo, ma volevo un po' più di stabilità, quindi ho fissato l'elastico e le ali alle due supporti di cartone prima con la spillatrice e poi con la colla.
in the original tutorial, you stuck it all together just with a glue gun, but i wanted it a bit more stable, so i first stapled the elastic and wings to the cardboard supports and then glued them.

 poi si fissano i due pezzi di cartone con la colla a caldo (e spilli, se volete) e si copre il cartone con stoffa. ecco fatto!
then you stick the two pieces of cardboard together with the glue gun (and staples, if you want) and you cover the cardboard with fabric. and that's it!

un'altra bella cosa di questo regalo? si può fare un bel pacco regalo semplicemente buttandoli dentro una busta di carta e le strisce di tulle che ne fuoriescono fanno un bel effetto da soli!
another nice thing about this gift? you can make a nice package just by stuffing them inside a gift bag and the tulle sticking out looks pretty cool as it is!
