Twitter develops like a living being?
Few weeks ago I followed Massimo Giordani's keynote at the Social Media Week in Rome.
The keynote was about digital ecosystems and Giordani - CEO of Time & Mind - pointed out that Internet is really the first human product similar to a natural system.
Internet is autopoietic and it evolves gradually every day, thanks to contributions of users. Thinking about the organization of a beehive, Giordani wondered what the expansion of Internet will be. If bees can build such a complex and effective structure, through the contribution of 960,000 neurons each, what humans can do, connecting brains with 100 billion of neurons?

Qualche settimana fa ho seguito l' intervento di Massimo Giordani - CEO di Time & Mind - alla Social Media Week di Roma. Il keynote era sugli ecosistemi digitali e Giordani ha fatto notare come internet sia davvero il primo prodotto umano assimilabile a un sistema naturale.
Internet è autopoietico e si evolve gradualmente ogni giorno, grazie ai contributi degli utenti. Giordani ha citato l'esempio dell'organizzazione di un alveare e si è posto una domanda: se le api riescono a costruire una struttura così complessa ed efficace, attraverso il contributo di 960.000 neuroni per esemplare, cosa possono fare gli utenti di internet con un cervello da 100 miliardi di neuroni ciascuno?

E' un grafico che rappresenta la rete degli hashtag sull'Egitto, che si è sviluppata su Twitter alla notizia delle dimissioni di Mubarak. Tutti quei twitts sono stati raccolti in una sola ora e rappresentano a malapena il 10% degli interventi totali.
