Questo weekend, avendo seguito il mio ragazzo che per lavoro doveva recarsi in Abruzzo, ho potuto scoprire in 48 ore una bellissima parte di Italia. Partendo da Milano in due giorni abbiamo fatto piu di 1200 Km in auto e assaggiato un pò di Emilia Romagna, un pò di Marche e un pò di Abruzzo. Tutte regioni che si affacciano sul mar Adriatico e che vantano cucine regionali meravigliose e un paesaggi altrettanto interessanti. Che dire, a volte ci si sente orgogliosi di vivere in Italia!
Abruzzo
Parto da questa regione, poichè in ordine cronologico è la prima che ho potuto conoscere, avendo fatto una tirata unica sabato mattina da Milano fino a Roseto degli Abruzzi.

Last weekend, following my boyfriend for work in Abruzzo, I discovered in 48 hours a beautiful part of Italy. Starting from Milan in two days we had more than 1200 kilometers by car and tasted a bit of Emilia Romagna, Marche and a little bit of Abruzzo. All regions bordering the Adriatic Sea and boasting wonderful regional cuisines and landscapes equally interesting. Sometimes I’m proud to live in Italy!
I start with this region, as in chronological order is the first I have known, having made a single run on Saturday morning from Milan to Roseto degli Abruzzi. There we arrived for lunch time and colleagues had shown a great welcome reception by bringing in a farmhouse overlooking both the sea and the mountains. Sea and mountains, it is incredible but in Abruzzo is possible and it is surprising for its landscape diversity so rich and impressive. Sitting in this beautiful set table, and guided by local friends, I tryed the local delicacies. The entrees did not seem to never end (not too much if I say that has arrived fifteen differend dishes). Here I report those who seemed to me the most interesting: the Abruzzese sausages and ricotta cheese served with strawberries and balsamic vinegar. On cuts, we could talk for hours … I will simply say that “ventricina”, the spicy salami, was really a pleasant discovery. But the highlight of the meal were spaghetti with small meatballs or in italian “Spaghetti alla chitarra”(Spaghetti on guitar). It was told by my guests, that was the typical dish of the area because on Sunday the mothers and grandmothers still use to make homemade egg pasta. This kind of pasta, like noodles but thicker and square, is cut on a special tool, called “guitar” (chitarra in italian) and then touched with a gesture like an arpeggio. The stomatoes auce with mini-meatballs are a must -have accompaniment, as the pasta is perfect for holding all the flavor of the sauce. A combination that lasts for generations … and does not take much to figure out why: simply Delicious, one of those things where when you think you are right … mouth watering! At the end, after dessert, they offered the wonderful cherries that tasted like summer.
