Poco fa Mark Shuttleworth ha pubblicato un interessantissimo post qui riguardante la possibilità di usufruire di un ambiente desktop Ubuntu completo, Ubuntu for Android, con relative applicazioni ed interfaccia grafica, direttamente dal proprio smartphone Android, nel momento in cui si collega il dispositivo ad un monitor esterno. La sostanza è quella di impiegare Android per l'utilizzo dell'apparecchio come cellulare ed utilizzare invece l'Ubuntu environment quando lo stesso viene connesso ad un monitor esterno. Come avere due dispositivi in uno. Nella home page del progetto infatti si legge:
