video tutorials!

lo so, sono stata un pochino (tantino) assente dal blog. per prima sia mio marito che io ci siamo ammalati la stessa mattina con l'influenza (non vi dico com'è complicato gestire i bimbi quando non c'è neanche un genitore in grado di fare qualcosa!), poi è partito il monitor del mio computer e l'ho dovuto portare a riparare. l'hanno riparato, ma temo che abbiano rotto qualcos'altro perché ora è sfocato nel centro. quindi purtroppo dovrò rinunciare di nuovo all'uso del computer questa settimana per riportare il monitor. per fortuna riuscivo ad aggiornare la mia pagina facebook un po' dal cellulare, ma il blog no!
i know, i know, i've been a bit (very) distant from the blog these days. first of all my husband and i both came down with the flu the same morning (you can imagine how hard it is to deal with the kids when there's not even one parent capable of doing anything!), then my computer monitor stopped working and i had to bring it to get fixed. they did fix it, but i'm afraid that they broke something else while doing so because now it's out of focus in the middle of the screen. so unfortunately i'll have to give up my computer this week to bring the monitor back in. luckily i was able to update my facebook page from my phone, but not the blog!
poi ho cominciato un altro progetto: di sistemare la mia stanza-laboratorio-discarica. mi dispiace di non aver scattato una foto prima perché la confusione totale era davvero sconvolgente. abbiamo disegnato, comprato e montato un sistema per coprire una parete dove sto sistemando tutti i miei materiali (tessuti, vestiti/tessili da recuperare, e roba salvato dalla nostra immondizia da recuperare) per bene in questa struttura. sono contentissima! ora creare sarà molto più semplice e ancora più emozionante!
then i started another project: organizing my sewing room/trash heap. i wish i'd taken a before picture because the sheer mess was nothing short of absolute horror. we designed, bought and assembled a wall shelving system where i'm organizing all my materials (fabric, clothes/textiles to upcycle, and stuff saved from the recycling bins to use in the future). i'm so happy! now i'll be able to create with much more ease!

sto anche pian piano aggiornando il mio negozio online, che vorrei finire e anche pubblicare un post qui con una recensione molto interessante prima di riportare il monitor a riparare. ma prima non potevo che condividere una cosa che mi emoziona tanto! lo so, parlo sempre della mia cara sheri di awesomesauce & asshattery, ma è perché fa tante di quelle cose belle. ora ha creato un canale su youtube dove pubblicherà ogni lunedì un video tutorial con un suo progetto divertente ed utile fai-da-te. il video di stamattina è su come fare lo "scarfigan", una cosa di cui mi ero innamorata subito quando l'ho vista la prima volta. praticamente è una sciarpa che puoi anche indossare come cardigan, un progetto molto semplice ma di grandissimo effetto!
i'm also bit by bit loading new items into my online shop, which i'd like to finish doing along with writing a post with a very interesting review here before bringing my monitor in to get fixed again. but i just had to share some very exciting news first! i know, i'm always talking about my dear sheri from awesomesauce & asshattery, but it's because she does so many cool things. now she's opened a youtube channel where she'll publish a video tutorial every monday with one of her fun and useful DIY projects. this morning's video is how to make the "scarfigan," something i fell in love with at first sight months ago. basically it's a scarf that you can also wear as a cardigan, a very simple but cool project!

another really interesting video that she posted is on how her mensch t's t-shirts are created. it's much more complex than i'd imagined and i found it fascinating!
