Madame et monsieurs (inizia a sentirsi la mia presenza a Parigi ;) )…. Vinum !Come già vi ho raccontato, ce lo siamo tenuto come ultima tappa (anche perché non è stata una tappa rapida) e siamo entrati dopo aver già stimolato il nostro olfatto e la memoria sensoriale.
Ora vi racconto ogni cosa.

As I have already said, there that was our final stop (even because it was not a quick stop) and we went there after we stimulated our olfactory and sensory memory.
Let me tell you everything, now.

All’ingresso ci era consegnato il nostro bicchiere e il ticket con la possibilità di 10 assaggi dei vini della ‘Grande Enoteca Langhe Roero’. Si trattavano di vini tutti provenienti da Alba – solo il Moscato era di Asti – ed erano accompagnati da eloquenti spiegazioni circa il luogo di provenienza, l’invecchiamento, la produzione.

At the entrance we were given our glass and a ticket with the chance to taste 10 wines from the 'Great Wine Langhe Roero'. They were all wines from Alba - only the Moscato was from Asti - and they were accompanied by eloquent explanations about the place of origin, age, production.

Siamo stati sui rossi – che dominano in generale il territorio – e, devo dire, siamo partiti in bellezza. Uno degli amici che erano con me, aveva seguito qualche corso da sommelier e abbiamo iniziato affidandoci un po’ a lui.

We tasted mainly red wine - wines that dominate this area in general - and I must say, we started with a flourish. One of the friends who were with me, had taken some courses as a sommelier and so we trusted him.

Siamo partiti con un Nebbiolo della azienda agricola RIGO del 2009 davvero strepitoso – della cui cantina ho apprezzato anche il buon dolcetto di Diano d’Alba (scusate le foto sono pessime, ma giusto per farvi stampare in testa l'etichetta).

We started with a Nebbiolo of the 2009 by RIGO farm that was really amazing - I also appreciated the good Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba by the same producer (sorry the photos are bad, but just to let you print the label head).

Il nebbiolo si è rivelato poi uno dei migliori assaggi, insieme con una buonissima Barbera Superiore d’Alba della cantina Pioiero (oserei dire il migliore in assoluto) e un barbaresco Bricco Spessa della cantina dei fratelli Grasso del 2007 della cascina Valgrande di Treiso che ho trovato personalmente molto ricco di aromi.

The nebbiolo was later revealed one of the best tasting, along with a very good Barbera d'Alba Superiore wine Pioiero of (I dare say "the best") and a Barbaresco Bricco Spessa of 2007 by Grasso brothers of the farmhouse Valgrande Treiso that I found personally very rich in flavor.

Oltre a questi, davvero ottimi sono stati anche gli assaggi del Barolo Rocche Aurelio Settimo di La Morra del 2005 del e il dolcetto d’Alba Gianni Ramello del 2007 sempre di La Morra. Molto buono anche il Barbaresco Piazzo di Alba del 2007 – un sapore molto particolare.

Besides these, Barolo Rocche Aurelio Settimo from La Morra of 2005 and Dolcetto d'Alba 2007 by Gianni Ramello from La Morra too, were really good. In addiction, the Piazzo Barbaresco Alba of 2007 - had a very particular taste.

Per finire avrei assaggiato un passito, ma era finito, così ho chiuso con due Moscati di Asti, uno dei quali non è degno di nota. L'altro, invece, il Lumine della cantina Ca d'Gal, molto buono, l'ho addirittura ritrovato ieri in una cantina qui a Parigi!

Finally I wish I had tasted a passito, but it was finished, so I closed with two Moscato di Asti, one of which doesn't deserve any note. The other, however, the Lumine by Ca d'Gal, was so good. Think: I even found it yesterday in a store here in Paris!

Non finiscono certo qui i vini notevoli che abbiamo assaggiato, ma sulla selezione che ho posto qui, diciamo che mi faccio da garante :) .

The great wines we tasted are not over, but I can say I am the guarantor of this selection :) .

Per le prossime volte consiglio di visitare il padiglione a partire non dopo le 14. Solo così a noi è stata possibile una visita tranquilla e senza affanni. Alla fine del nostro tour, verso le 17/17.30, il padiglione si era riempito e si erano create lunghe code e – appunto – alcune bottiglie iniziavano a finire.

For next times I suggest you not to visit the fair after 2 p.m. . Just in this way we could have had a peaceful visit without worries. At the end of our tour, around 17/17.30, the hall was full and there were long queues and - indeed - some bottles was beginning to finish.

Non ero mai stata ad una fiera enogastronomica (in Italia quella più importate è il Vinitaly di Verona) e mi è piaciuto molto. E’ stato un pomeriggio molto piacevole anche grazie alla bellezza del territorio delle Langhe e all’inaspettato bel tempo che è sorto nel pomeriggio.

I had never been to a food and wine fair (in Italy the most important wine fair is Vinitaly in Verona) and I loved it. It was a very pleasant afternoon, also thanks to the beauty of the Langhe and the unexpected great weather that has arisen in the afternoon.
