XJR... on the hubcaps

Oh yes "Sur les chapeaux de roues" means "on the hubcaps" and... No, it's not the number 1000 official Yamaha yard built! And, frankly speaking, I cannot see any other reason why this nice 1999 XJR1300, introduced at The Bike Shed in Paris by Sur les chapeaux de roues workshop was so far understated by medias.
Oh, sì "Sur les chapeaux de roues" significa proprio "sui coprimozzi" e... No. Non è la milionesima Yamaha Yard Built ufficiale! E francamente non riesco a vedere nessun altro motivo per cui questa bella XJR1300 del 1999, presentata al The Bike Shed a Parigi dall'officina francese Sur les chapeaux de roues, sia stata sin qui trascurata dai media. 

Aside its simple and elegant classic style, this bike features new one off hubs for 18" spoke rims, a customised BMW fairing and a handmade aluminium tail and leather seat. The fairing is held by a spider that maintains a homemade headlight from a Honda Transalp completed with a Motogadget speedo. Clip-on's and LSL breaking radial master cylinder were also part of the job. The air box has been removed and new BMC pods have been added. The electrics have been reingeneered and hidden. The old Ohlins needed to be changed with new YSS shock absorbers whose look is much more appropriate to the new style of the bike. The exhausts were treated with a ceramic paint and completed a pair of Sparck mufflers.
A parte il suo stile classico, semplice ed elegante, questa moto dispone di mozzi artigianali per  nuovi cerchi a raggi da 18", di una carenatura BMW anni sessanta adattata e di coda in alluminio e sella in pelle fatti a mano. Il cupolino è assicurato ad un traliccio che mantiene il faro adattato da una Honda Transalp ed è completato da uno strumento Motogadget. Semimanubri e pompa freno radiale di LSL fanno parte del lavoro. La scatola filtro è stata rimossa per nuovi filtri conici BMC. L'impianto elettrico è stato ridisegnato e nascosto. I vecchi Ohlins dovevavo essere cambiati con nuovi ammortizzatori YSS il cui aspetto è molto più appropriato al nuovo stile della moto. Gli scarichi sono stati trattati con una vernice ceramica e completati con una coppia di terminali Sparck.
