Il problema con Elvis, da tanti anni a questa parte, è sempre lo stesso: mi fa spendere un sacco di soldi. Non solo, spesso il Re me li fa spendere per dischi che ho già. E' il caso di questo Today, Tomorrow & Forever, splendido box pubblicato nel 2002 contenente una montagna di materiale inedito. All'epoca della sua emissione, a noi appassionati sembrò semplicemente troppo bello per essere vero, anche perché soltanto cinque anni prima era stata la volta dell'altrettanto monumentale Platinum A Life In Music. Inutile dire che i quattro dischetti di Today, Tomorrow & Forever stazionarono nel mio lettore cd per parecchio tempo. Quest'anno la Sony ha ripubblicato lo storico cofanetto nel praticissimo formato "tascabile" (14 x 19,5) con il quale erano già stati riproposti i box 50, 60 e 70 masters. Definire appetibile il prezzo (€ 24,99) è poco, e credo che gli amanti della buona musica non dovrebbero lasciarselo sfuggire, visto che si porterebbero a casa un'opera che copre alla perfezione le tre decadi del regno di Elvis. Va bene, ma io cosa c'entro? Today, Tomorrow & Forever lo comprai dodici anni fa, nella sua forma più costosa. Diciamo che, come al solito, non ho saputo resistere... Stavolta il mio alibi è stato: questa edizione è molto più maneggevole dell'originale! Non un granché, mi rendo conto, ma una giustificazione dovevo pur trovarla. Cento brani, booklet di 44 pagine, bella confezione... se vi capita, in giro si trova facilmente, non ve lo perdete.
