3DS: Scoperto un exploit in kernel mode!

Pochi giorni fa è stata pubblicata la notizia che a quanto pare una Nintendo 3DSXLera stata hackata e ripresa con la scritta “We hacked it”… ma senza dare spiegazioni su come la cosa fosse possibile.
Pare che siano in arrivo buone nuove per tutti i possessori di 3DS: un gioco per 3DS ha una grave falla che permette di avere accesso alla kernel mode del 3DS, e conseguentemente all’intero hardware del 3DS.
I meriti della scoperta vanno a neimod e yellow8, nomi noti nella scena underground, che hanno sfruttato la falla per eseguire codice non autorizzato (homebrew) nonchè avere con questi stessi programmi l’accesso completo all’hardware della console… funzionalità 3D compresa.
neimod ha confermato via irc la possibilità di avviare i backup 3DS, ma ha anche spiegato che il bug è facilmente “tappabile”, probabilmente con un aggiornamento software come è sempre avvenuto su Wii per gli exploit via savehack.
Il gioco buggato è acquistabile solamente sotto forma di card commerciale, e non sotto forma di download dal Nintendo eShop, ma non è stato reso di pubblico dominio il titolo affetto da tale problema.
