A day with Rick!

C’è una persona che vorrei presentarvi, gli artisti si sa hanno un fascino tutto particolare e lui è proprio uno di quelli! Rick Woodbury italiano di adozione, ma americano di nascita. Ho conosciuto Rick, quando lavorava come insegnante d’inglese e da li è nata un’amicizia fatta di scambi d’idee e passioni. Oggi voglio condividere con voi un po’ della sua arte e portarvi nel suo meraviglioso laboratorio…sembra quasi irreale: colori, pennelli, carte, incisioni, mille oggetti e libri sparsi un po’ ovunque, un piccolo mondo dove si respira un’aria diversa, dentro il quale riesci davvero a dimenticarti di tutto quello che c’è fuori. Per me è sempre un piacere andare là, ha volte mi ha reso partecipe dei suoi lavori, lasciandomi libera di dare sfogo alla mia creatività, altre volte ho preso parte alle sue lezioni con studenti americani, oppure ci siamo semplicemente seduti a prendere una tazza di tè godendo della bellissima vista che c’è dal suo studio. La sua passione per il disegno e il suo grande talento, l’hanno spinto nell’ultimo anno a dedicarsi ad un nuovo progetto: i tatuaggi. Purtroppo trovandomi dall’altra parte del mondo non lo posso seguire costantemente, ma sono sicura che sta facendo un buon lavoro anche questa volta. Potrei raccontarvi qualche aneddoto divertente su di lui, perché in sua compagnia non ci si annoia mai, ma lascerò che a parlare sia lui con questa piccola intervista cui si è gentilmente prestato e qualche scatto che mi sono divertita a fare nel suo laboratorio…oggi nel mondo di V c’è profumo di colori e arte! L'America è il popolo,conosco tante persone meravigliose là e anche quelle pazze che non conosco sono ugualmente fantastiche. -Un buon motivo per stare in Italia:Simona Gnalducci e altre persone che mi sono molto care, non importa dove sarò, parte del mio cuore sarà sempre in Italia. -L’arte è:Un'espressione spirituale umana, buona o cattiva che sia. -Un posto che tutti dovrebbero aver visto:  Molti posti e anche tutti quelli che ho visitato in fondo non li ho visti abbastanza.

There is somebody who I’d like to introduce you, you know that artists have a special charm and he is just one of those! Rick Woodbury Italian by adoption, but American by birth. I met Rick, when he worked as English teacher and from there was born a friendship, exchanging of ideas and passions. Today I will share with you a bit 'of his art and bring you in his wonderful lab...it seems almost unreal: colors, brushes, papers, recordings, books and thousands of objects scattered' throughout, a little world where you can breathe a different air, into which you can really forget about everything that's out there. For me it's always a pleasure to go there, sometimes  he'd let me enjoy his work, leaving me free to give rein my creativity, other times I attended his classes with American students, or we just sit and have a cup of tea enjoying the beautiful view from his studio. His passion for drawing and his great talent, led last year to start a new project: tattoos. Unfortunately, finding me at  the other side of the world I can’t keep track, but I'm sure is doing a good job this time too. I could tell some funny story about him, because his companionship doesn't get bored, but I'll leave that to talk about him is this little interview which he has kindly provided, and some shots that I enjoyed doing in his studio...today in V’s world you can smell color and art! Anywhere -I'm afraid of: Stupid people -All say about me:I am not sure. -Something good of Italy and something good of America: Italy: The panorama, the story, the incredible physical beauty created by man and then modified by time and nature.Some places here are so emotive that you can hear or feel the many centuries of souls.   America:for me, it's the people.I know so many wonderful people there and then even people I don’t know are often crazy and wonderful as well. -A good reason for live in Italy:Simona Gnalducci and some other people who I care much about. No matter where I go part of my heart will always be in Italia. -Art is:A human spiritual expression, good or bad. -A place where everyone should have been:Many places and then the many places I have seen, I haven’t seen enough of.
