A few British favourites.

Well, you know this already: The Girlfriend likes to "play" with polymer clay and making food miniatures (she loves food too much!). The trouble is that she is a PERFECTIONIST. In her little crazy mind she's dreaming of getting to be so incredibly good that one would struggle to tell the miniatures and the real things apart.Unfortunately, it takes practice, patience, a lot of talent and some of what Italian people would call "culo",which basically is a not so polite way to say "luck".At the moment The Girlfriend is not feeling good enough. Not at all. She actually spends most of her life feeling inadequate, therefore it's nice to have this blog where she can show the things she makes and play to be a little diva.Beh, lo sapete gia': alla Girlfriend piace "giocare" colla pasta sintetica e fare miniature, soprattutto di cibo (E' una golosona!)Il problema e' che tende anche ad essere una perfezionista. Nella sua testolina matta sogna di diventare talmente brava dal rendere quasi impossibile distinguere le miniature dalle cose reali.Sfortunatamente il tutto richiede pratica, pazienza, molto talento e quello che noi Italiani chiamiamo "culo".Al momento La Girlfriend non si sente abbastanza brava.Proprio per niente.In realta', trascorre la maggior parte della sua vita sentendosi inadeguata, percio' e' bello avere almeno questo blog dove mostrare quello che fa e giocare a fare la diva per un po'.

Today she made some British favourites.Oggi ha preparato delle specialita' Britanniche.
A Battenberg cake, whose little slices can be easily turned into pretty stud earrings too.Una torta Battenberg, le cui fettine si prestano perfettamente per essere trasformate in graziosi orecchini.This is a "real" Battenberg cake.Questa e' una "vera" Battenberg.
While this is the miniature.E questa e' la miniatura.
You're probably struggling to tell them apart, aren't you? I'm obviously joking!Probabilmente avete gia' qualche difficolta' a distinguerle, vero? Ovviamente, scherzo!And these are the stud earrings.E questi sono gli orecchini.Then she made a traditional Victoria sponge cake. The most popular cake for afternoon tea.It's called "sponge" because of its consistence that makes it look a bit like a sponge.While the name Victoria comes from Queen Victoria, who was particularly fond of this cake and apparently was responsible of starting the tradition of having a slice in the afternoon, with a cup of tea.Poi ha preparato una tradizionalissima Vittoria sponge. La torta piu' popolare per il te' del pomeriggio.Si chiama "sponge" (spugna") per la sua consistenza spugnosa. Mentre "Vittoria" deriva dalla regina Vittoria, che pare fosse un'estimatrice di questo tipo di torta e che sia la responsabile della tradizione di mangiarne una fetta nel pomeriggio, insieme ad una tazza di te'.
This cake looks just right for a pretty ring.Questa torta sembra perfetta per un bell'anellino.
