period: february 2012-that's the main square: Piazza Cavour. Behind it, there is the "Torre dell' Angelo", an ancient tower, that's on of symbols of the city-Quando vi ho "introdotto" Vercelli, vi avevo detto che non esisteva solo la Basilica di Sant'Andrea. Beh, non basta dirlo, così ve lo mostro.
Per non rendere noiosissima la solita gallery fotografica, alterno le immagini dei principali luoghi di interesse della città, alla descrizione del ristorante in cui ieri ho mangiato meravigliosamente, proprio a Vercelli. Non è l'unico ristorante buono in città, anche perché la cucina piemontese offre una certa ricchezza di sapori e tradizioni. Però con la La Trattoria Paolino trovo che la città si sia davvero superata.
When I "introduced" Vercelli, I reported that there wasn't only the Basilica di Sant'Andrea. Well, to say it, it's not enough, so I'll show you.
I'd like to avoid the same old boring photo gallery, so, I'll alternate images of the main attractions of the city, with the description of the restaurant where I wonderfully ate yesterday, here in Vercelli.
It is not the only good restaurant in town, because the Piedmontese cuisine offers a certain richness of flavors and traditions. But with La Trattoria Paolino I believe that the city has really win very much.

- Faculty of Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino, based in Vercelli -Quindi, mentre vi accompagno per questo photo-tour vi faccio sognare un po' a livello culinario. Paolino è una Trattoria di alto livello, molto rinomata in città. Si trova in Via San Paolo 12/14 (CLICCATE QUI per la mappa) ed è un ristorante piccolo ma piacevolissimo, curato nei dettagli e gestito da uno staff molto disponibile e cordiale.Il menú cambia nel corso delle stagioni ed offre il numero giusto di varietà che permette loro di ottenere la materia prima d'eccellenza. E' tutto di produzione propria e nulla è lasciato al caso.
So while I drive you for this photo-tour I'll let you dream something at culinary level. Paolino is a high level Trattoria, very popular in the city. It is located in Via San Paolo 12/14 (CLICK HERE for the map) and the restaurant is small but pleasant, eye for detail and managed by a very helpful and friendly staff.
The menu changes with the seasons and it offers the right number of varieties that allows them to obtain the most excellent raw material. It's all production of its own and nothing is left to chance

location: Vercelli, Italyphotograph: Costanza Saglioperiod: february 2012- the Duomo -Dopo un'ardua scelta, abbiamo mangiato: in attesa del Risotto ai fiori di zafferano con parmigiano, ci è stato servito un salame di fegato che si scioglieva in bocca; dopo il risotto, cucinato alla perfezione, ci siamo concessi un filetto di fassona da capogiro con patate al forno. Il tutto accompagnato da una Chardonnay dal gusto corposo e molto particolare. E per finire, un dolce speciale: semifreddo ai bicciolani. Non lo avevo mai nemmeno sentito, ma il nome mi aveva attratto. E l'ho ordinato senza sbagliare: era assoluto!
Consiglio a tutti questo ristorante, per un serata in cui ci si vuole trattare un po' bene. I prezzi non sono bassissimi, ma non sono nemmeno ingiustificati (il risotto costa 12€, il filetto 20€ ma c'erano altri secondi sempre a 12 e i dolci 5€) data l'alta qualità e il piacevolissimo locale, in pieno centro storico!
After a tough choice, we ate: waiting for the Risotto with flowers of saffron and parmesan cheese, we were served a sausage of liver that was melting in our mouth; after the risotto, perfectly cooked, we treated ourselves to an unbelievable Fassona thread with baked potatoes. All of it was accompanied by a full-bodied Chardonnay with a very special flavor. And last but not least, a special dessert: a semifreddo made of Bicciolani. I had never heard about it, but the name attracted me. And I ordered it without a mistake: it was outstanding!
I recommend everyone this restaurant for a dinner in which you want to cuddle yourself. Prices are not low, but they are neither unwarranted (the risotto costs 12 €, the thread € 20 but there were meal for 12 and desserts cost € 5) because of the high quality and the pleasant location in the historic center !

Ecco qui quasi tutto il meglio della mia città. Spero presto di approfondire con il resto del Piemonte: le langhe sono un sogno.
