La caratteristica più interessante dello stile punk è il suo legame a doppio filo con il mondo della musica.I primi esempi di restyling del punk rock originario risalgono infatti ai Nirvana, e a molti degli artisti principali alternative rock degli anni novanta. Il successo dei Nirvana è cruciale perché le major discografiche vedano il punk nuovamente come potenzialmente rimunerativo e aprano così la strda alla diffusione del grunge, la nuova interpretazione del punk. Successivamente, nel 1993, i Green Day ed i Bad Religion sono entrambi sotto contratto con le grandi etichette : MTV e le stazioni radio hanno un ruolo importante nella loro diffusione a livello mondiale. Le enormi vendite dei Green Day e dei The Offspring aprono la strada verso il successo ad altri gruppi pop punk come i blink-182, i Simple Plan, i Good Charlotte ed i Sum 41 nel decennio successivo. Il Vans Warped Tour ed il grande magazzino Hot Topic riportano ancora maggiormente il punk tra la musica di tentenza statunitense.Ora che lo stile punk rock è stato definitivamente sdoganato ed è diventato un vero e proprio genere di moda, si presta molto facilamente ad essere mescolato con alri stili, sia per esaltare il lato più aggressivo di questi ultimi oppure, al contrario, per renderlo più soft e adatto ad una pubblico più vasto.Le foto di questo editoriale ne sono un'ottimo esempio: gli elementi punk sono molto evidenti ma allo stesso tempo si armonizzano bene con i look che vengono proposti: un perfetto esempio di mix & match! :)
The most interesting point of punk style is its double bond with the world of music. The first example of redesign of the original punk rock can be traced back to Nirvana, and many of the major artists of the 1990s alternative rock.  The success of Nirvana is crucial because the major record companies see the punk again as potentially profitable and it open the street to the spread of grunge, the new interpretation of punk. Later, in 1993, Green Day and Bad Religion are both under contract with the major labels: MTV and radio stations have an important role in their global spread.  The huge sales of Green Day and The Offspring opened the way to success to other pop punk bands such as blink-182, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and Sum 41 in the next decade. The Vans Warped Tour and the store Hot Topic report even more punk music as a mainstream. Now that punk rock style is definitely accepted and has become a real kind of fashion, lends itself very easily to be mixed with other styles, both to enhance the more aggressive side or, conversely, to make it softer and suitable for a wider audience. Photos of this editorial are an excellent example: punk elements are very well distinguishable but at the same time blend well with the looks that are proposed: a perfect example of & mix match! :)
