Guardate bene questa faccia e ricordate bene questo nome: Joseph Kony. Chi è costui? É l’individuo più atroce e sanguinario ancora vivente su questa terra, una specie di Hitler dell’Africa. Vive in Uganda, invisibile e irrintracciabile. Quello che Kony fa da più di 26 anni fa accapponare la pelle: rapisce bambini, li mutila in viso e li trasforma in soldati. E mentre i maschietti sono costretti a uccidere per non fermare la spirale di morte e conservare il potere di Kony, le femminucce diventano delle schiave del sesso.
La brutta storia dei bambini soldato in Africa (e non solo) mi era purtroppo nota da quando ero io stessa una bambina, ma in 27 anni non avevo mai sentito parlare di Joseph Kony, nonostante sia il primo sulla lista dei ricercati dal Tribunale Internazionale dell’Aia per i crimini di guerra. Da qualche tempo sta girando su internet un minifilm che è diventato letteralmente un prodotto virale, come era negli obiettivi dell’organizzazione Invisible Children - qui anche il loro gruppo su Facebook.
Nel filmato – che trovate dopo la parte in inglese – non vedrete scene cruente, ma tanti visi sorridenti e la speranza di un enorme esercito della pace, fatto da gente come me, e come voi. Perché è importante guardare e condividere questo filmato? Perché tutti devono sapere chi è Joseph Kony, e rendersi responsabili della sua cattura.
Ma come è possibile che un filmato online possa essere in grado di catturare questo essere orribile?
Nel 2011, per la prima volta nella storia, un governo nazionale – quello degli Stati Uniti – ha mandato delle truppe in Uganda non per difesa “personale”, ma sotto la spinta e la promozione del popolo, attraverso Invisible Children e le sue iniziative in loco e online. Per la prima volta, in un mondo “virtuale” dove le distanze spaziali si annullano, abbiamo la reale possibilità di cambiare concretamente le sorti di persone invisibili, e renderle visibili.
Sul sito Kony2012 troverete un press kit con i materiali stampabili e pubblicabili: tutti devono sapere, è compito di tutti stanare dall’oscurità questo sanguinario.
Il 20 aprile sarà la notte, in tutto il mondo, in cui gli attivisti di Invisible Children tappezzeranno le città con i manifesti, gli adesivi e i volantini che mirano a far conoscere Joseph Kony. Certo, sarebbe bello che, per una volta, città come Roma o Milano prestassero la loro fama di “affissionismo abusivo” per una causa più che nobile.
Perché questa cosa di Joseph Kony non riguarda solo i bambini dell’Uganda.
Riguarda tutti noi.

Look at the face on the top of the post and remember this name: Joseph Kony. Who is he? He’s the awful, bloody person still alive on the earth, kind of African Hitler.
He lives in Uganda, invisible and untracked. What Kony uses to do for more than 26 years makes my flesh creep: he abducts kids, mutilates their faces and then he turns them into soldiers. While males are forced to kill in order to not stop the spiral of death and perpetuate Kony’s power, females become sex slaves.
I knew the bad story about child soldiers in Africa since I was a kid too, but I’ve never heard about Joseph Kony in 27 years of my life, even if he’s on the top of the most dangerous criminals list published by The Hague’s International Criminal Court. A mini-movie is running everywhere on the internet, becoming a real viral product, as Invisible Children organization – here is the Facebook page, you gotta join it! – has planned as a goal.
We don’t watch any cruel image on the movie below. You will see smiling faces and the big hope of a huge peace army made by people like me. And like you.
Why is watching and sharing this video so important? Because every single person on the earth must know who is Joseph Kony, and be responsible of his arrest.
How is it possible that an online video could be really able to capture this awful human being?
In 2011, for the first time in history, a national government – the U.S. one – has sent an army troop into a place (the Uganda) not for “military defence/national purpose” but thanks to the people push, efforts and propaganda and Invisible Children’s online and in loco events. For the first time, in a world “virtual” context where spatial distances are off, we have the real chance to concretely change the destiny of invisible people, and make them visible.

April 20th will be the world night when Invisible Children’s activists will plaster the cities with posters, stickers and flyers, in order to make Kony famous.
