Carnival in Venice part 3

A dire il vero inizialemente ero un pò titubante all'idea di dover passare tutta la settimana a Venezia (dato che peraltro, l'ho visitata già diverse volte), pensavo che mi sarei annoiata a stare lì tanto a lungo: insomma, una volta che avessi visto le maschere che altro avrei potuto fare?Ma ho dovuto ricredermi completamente, questa città offre tantissimo durante tutto il periodo di Carnevale! La cosa che mi ha più colpita è il fatto che le maschere ci sono tutti i giorni (io credevo che uscissero solo nel week end e per il Giovedì ed il Martedì grasso), sono praticamente solo adulti a travestirsi (ci sono anche dei laboratori e delle attrazioni per i bambini, ma sono in una zona separata; in realtà, secondo me, questo non è un Carnevale molto adatto ai più piccoli) e che nulla risulta eccesivo, è tutto perfettamente calibrato: la musica dal vivo c’è praticamente sempre nelle piazze ma non è mai troppo forte, le sfilate delle maschere non sono mai troppo invadenti, ecc. Insomma si riesce sempre a parlare tranquillamente con chi ti sta intorno ed a godersi l’atmosfera di festa con tutta tranquillità.Sono stata a molti altri Carnevali anche importanti (come quello di Viareggio), e l’atmosfera che c’è a Venezia è molto diversa, magari standoci solo un giorno nemmeno ci si fa caso, ma passandoci una settimana diventa evidente.E, a parte le maschere, c’è sempre qualche evento a cui andare o qualche mostra da vedere, e poi le sfilate dei costumi, i concerti all’aperto, i bravissimi artisti di strada… senza contare che anche solo a girare senza meta tra calli e ponticelli si trovano angolini caratteristici e piccoli gioielli architettonici uno dopo l’altro!Ma il meglio arriva la sera: non ero mai stata a Venezia di notte durante il periodo del Carnevale, ed è semplicemente spettacolare (un consiglio, se vi capita la sera andate al Casinò e guardate il panorama sul canal Grande dalla finesta, toglie il fiato!)! Naturalmente la serata più bella è stata quella del Giovedì grasso: c’è stata la sfilata delle maschere da Piazza S.Marco all’Arsenale e lì hanno fatto i fuochi d’artificio con musica e spettacoli dal vivo! :D
To tell the truth I was a little hesitant at the idea of having to spend a whole week in Venice (since , however , I have visited it several times already ) , I thought that I would be bored to stay there for so long : in short, once I had seen the masks, what else could I do?
But I had to change my mind completely, this city offers a lot throughout the period of Carnival !
The thing that struck me most is the fact that the masks are present every day ( I thought they came out only on weekends and Jeudi and Mardi Gras ) , are practically only adults to dress up (there are also workshops and attractions for children, but they are in a separate area , in reality in my opinion , this is not a carnival very suitable for children ) , and that nothing is too much , it's all perfectly calibrated : the live music there is almost all the time in the streets and squares but it is never too strong, the parades of masks not are never too pushy etc. . In short, you can always talk quietly with those around you and enjoy the party atmosphere with peace of mind.
I have been to many other Carnivals. also important (such as Viareggio) , and the atmosphere there is in Venice is very different from everyone, maybe if you go there just for a day you don’t pay attention of it, but after a week, it becomes evident.
And, apart from the masks , there is always some event to go to or a show to see, and more: the parades, outdoor concerts, the talented street artists ... not to mention that even just wandering around aimlessly, you con found characteristic nooks and small architectural gems one after another!
But the best comes in the evening : I had never been in Venice by night , and is simply spectacular ( a tip, if you happen to go there, go to the Casino in the evening and look at the view of the Grand Canal from the prompt window , the landscape is breathtaking ! ) ! Of course, the most beautiful evening was the jeudi Gras one : there was the parade of masks from Piazza San Marco and at the arsenal they had fireworks on the canals, all with live music in the square ! : D
