che fare con quei prodotti schifosi - what to do with those yucky products

anche se non ho ancora scritto quanto vorrei a riguardo, ho deciso di smettere di comprare molti di quei prodotti di cosmesi e cura corpo e invece di fare prodotti casalinghi. fin'ora ho scritto solo del dentifricio e della crema corpo, ma presto verrà la crema per il rossore del sedere dei bimbi e il deodorante (e come ci vuole ora che fa questo caldo insopportabile!) e altri che sto ancora sperimentando. comunque, avevo in casa ancora alcuni prodotti che non volevo più usare. tra questi, l'olio johnson's. (ne ho scritto qualcosa qui.)
even if i still haven't written as much as i'd like about this, i've decided to stop buying most commercial body care products and instead to make my own homemade ones. up til now i've only written about toothpaste and body cream, but soon i will also add diaper cream and deodorant (and how much we need that in this awful heat!) and others that i'm still experimenting with. anyway, i had some industrial products at home that i didn't want to use anymore. among these was johnson's baby oil. (i wrote about that here.)

mi scocciava di buttarlo e non sapevo a chi darlo (chi usa comunque questi prodotti che non si offenderebbe se mi permettessi di regalargli una bottiglia già usata di questa roba), quindi ho trovato un modo per utilizzarlo online, grazie a pinterest: fare il moonsand.
i didn't want to throw it out and i didn't know who to give it to (someone who still would want to use it and wouldn't be offended by being given a used bottle of the stuff), so i found another way to use it up online, thanks to pinterest: making moonsand.

sembra che si compra moonsand ("sabbia della luna", chiamato anche cloud dough, "pasta di nuvole") negli stati uniti e costicchia. è una roba sabbiosa ma che si attacca con un po' di pressione. è difficile spiegarlo. non lo conoscevo, ma mi sembrava interessante e un buon modo per utilitzzare questo olio. (anche se in teoria, viene sempre a contatto con le mani così...) ho usato questa ricetta, anche se ora vedo che hanno tolto il resto del post da quando l'ho visto io ed è rimasta solo la ricetta. praticamente si aggiunge una parte di olio johnson's a 8 parti di farina. si mescola con le mani, e ci si diverte un sacco! l'ho conservato dentro il contenitore di plastica che si vede nelle foto, con il coperchio chiuso per bene, così quando mia figlia la vuole usare, si usa là dentro. è ancora buona almeno 6 mesi dopo che l'abbiamo fatto. (l'abbiamo fatto a febbraio, perciò le foto senza luce naturale [e il grembiule a maniche lunghe]. era già buio prestissimo!)
it seems that you can buy moonsand (aka cloud dough) in the states and it's not that cheap. it's this sandy stuff that sticks together with a bit of sqeezing. it's hard to explain. i didn't know of this stuff, but it looked interesting and seemed like a good way to use up this oil. (even if, in theory, it still comes in contact with your skin this way...) i used this recipe, even if i now see that they've taken away the rest of the post from when i saw it and only left the recipe. basically you mix one part of johnson's oil to 8 parts of flour. you mix it up with your hands and have lots of fun! i kept it inside the plastic container that you can see in the photo, with the cover on tightly. that way when my daughter wants to use it, she can inside the container. it's still good at least 6 months after we made it. (we did this in february, hence the pictures with bad lighting [and long-sleeved apron]. it got dark pretty early then!)

poi avevo del bagno schiuma che non ci serviva più. quindi ho fatto colori da usare nella vasca da bagno. l'idea l'ho trovata sempre grazie a pinterest: 1 bicchiere di bagno schiuma, 4 cucchiai di amido di mais, contenitori piccoli e colori alimentari. con un pennello, si può dipingere sulla vasca e le mattonelle asciutte (non si attacca se la superficie è bagnata). che divertimento!
then i had some body wash that i didn't want to use anymore. so i made bubble bath paint. i found the idea, again, on pinterest: 1 cup of body wash/bubble bath, 4 tablespoons of cornstarch, little containers and food coloring. you can paint with a paintbrush on the dry tub sides and tiles (it doesn't stick on wet surfaces). what fun!
