Ormai è deciso: il 1° Luglio 2013 il famoso aggregatore lanciato nel 2005 andrà in pensione.A dare la notizia è il Blog ufficiale di Google e Reader fa parte della serie di servizi Google che verranno eliminati come ad esempio Google Cloud Connect, rimpiazzato dal sempre più prolifico Drive e Google Building Maker, utilizzato per la costruzione di edifici 3D in Google Earth e Maps.
Questa la motivazione ufficiale:
Abbiamo lanciato Google Reader nel 2005 come sforzo di rendere facile per le persone scoprire e tenere sott’occhio i loro siti web preferiti. Nonostante il prodotto abbia una base fedele di utenti, durante gli anni l’uso ha visto un declino. Quindi, il 1 luglio 2013, ritireremo Google Reader. Utenti e sviluppatori interessati ad alternative per RSS possono esportare i loro dati, incluse le sottoscrizioni, con Google Takeout nel corso dei prossimi quattro mesi.Sono moltissime le reazioni sui Social alla notizia della chiusura, soprattutto perchè il tool del grande G. ha una fervida Community di sostenitori che amavano avere la possibilità non solo di leggere i propri Feed ma anche di condividere e commentare i feed altrui in maniera semplice.
La notizia era nell'aria già da tempo comunque, tant'è che è stato già lanciato un Clone con le stesse funzionalità, sperando probabilmente di raccogliere i numerosi utenti che , sbalorditi, dovranno lasciare la propria Community preferita.
Il profilo di Twitter @googlereader è ormai intasato e stanno iniziando persino delle petizioni per fermare l'azienda di Mountain View.

We launched Google Reader in 2005 as an effort to make it easier for people to find and keep an eye on their favorite websites. Although the product has a loyal base of users, over the years the use has seen a decline. So, 1 July 2013, will retire Google Reader. Users and developers interested in alternative feeds can export their data, including subscriptions with Google Takeout over the next four months.
Are plenty of reactions to the news of the closure on, mostly because the Social tools of the big G. has a vibrant community of supporters who have loved the opportunity not only to read but also to share its RSS feeds and comment on others easily.
The news was in the air for some time, however, in fact Feedly has already launched a clone with the same functionality, probably hoping to collect the many users who, stunned, must leave their favorite community.
The Twitter profile @googlereader has become clogged and are starting even petitions to stop the Mountain View company.
