Mountain Wiew decide di far uscire la nuova macchina al prezzo pazzesco di 1.299 dollari per la versione base con 32 GB di storage , non dotata di LTE e con la fornitura di 3 anni di archiviazione cloud da 1 terabyte, raggiungendo i prezzi Apple e provando così a dimostrare che i Chromebook non sono necessariamente computer da poche centinaia di euro con limitate capacità di calcolo, ma che al contrario lo sviluppo di Chrome OS anche per macchine destinate al lavoro in locale sarebbe sempre più vicino.
Il design invece stupisce per la compattezza e i precisi profili in alluminio che danno l'impressione di avere tra le mani un MacBook, l'unica parte che non ha un angolo preciso e il cilindro che corre nella parte posteriore e che funge da cerniera tra le due parti del laptop.
Che dire quindi? Sicuramente il Chromebook Pixel è stato concepito in modo perfetto nei dettagli hardware, ma può essere utilizzato solo da chi vive la sua vita costantemente sul web, quando con cifre più basse si possono sicuramente trovare laptop più performanti, insomma, un vero spasso da provare ma che dubitiamo potrà raggiungere l'ampio target di clienti che preferiscono una macchina che renda anche in locale.
