L'emittente televisiva americana CNN, consiglia 12 mete in Italia "alternative" ai soliti percorsi turistici.
Partendo dal centro i luoghi da visitare sono Narni, Pienza in Toscana, i resti etruschi di Tuscania e le dune di sabbia di San Felice Circeo; più a nord c'è Mantova con i suoi laghi e l'elegante Torino; mentre al sud ci sono le isole di Ischia e Ventotene, i palazzi barocchi di Lecce, i sassi di Matera e per finire in Sicilia, le città di Siracusa e Caltagirone.
The American broadcaster CNN, recommended 12 destinations in Italy "alternatives" to the usual tourist routes.
Starting from the center places to visit are Narni, Pienza in Tuscany, the Etruscan ruins of Tuscania and the sand dunes of San Felice Circeo; in the north there is Mantua, with its lakes and the elegant Turin; while in the south there are the islands of Ischia and Ventotene, baroque buildings of Lecce, the stones of Matera and finally in Sicily, the cities of Syracuse and Caltagirone.

Questo borgo umbro è stato costruito 3.000 anni fa in cima a una collina rocciosa attraversata dal fiume Nera. Conquistata dai Romani, che la chiamarono Narnia, è famosa per la fortezza dell'Albornoz e la statua del leone, simbolo della città, oltre all'imponente ponte di Augusto, costruito in epoca romana, e il museo civico con i capolavori del Rinascimento.
Giugno è il periodo migliore per visitarla, quando una festa tradizionale trasforma la città in una rievocazione medievale con cavalli e guerrieri. Se poi siete alla ricerca di qualcosa di eccitante, non perdete i sotterranei della Santa Inquisizione, con celle carcerarie spettacolari coperte di graffiti e simboli massonici, e le visite guidate all'Acquedotto romano della Formina, uno dei pochi aperti al pubblico in Italia.
