Here we are with the second round of my Designer's Profile Project. Last week we kicked off with the Italian designer Caterina Gatta, this time it's the turn of a British designer: Danielle Christina Timms and her label Make & Believe by Daniella Christina. I first came across her designs last June, during a Charity Fashion Show here in Brighton, then a couple of months later I used some those designs to style the commissioned 'New Vintage' shoot. Let's start with the Profile and the interview.
1) A brief introduction about you, the label, the kind of designs/garments you create, where are you based. I'm the founder of fashion label, Make & Believe by Daniella Christina.It's a womens wear label, inspired by vintage tailoring and heritage. It stands to 'Make' unique distinctive clothes and 'Believe' in individuality and one's self.The label is for those that believe in what they wear and a label with enduring style and quality. A well made vintage/ tailored garment can last centuries and have sustainable style so I always strive to create that vision.
2) Who's your typical customer.
The label is for independent , strong and elegant women ('No frills and bows' ) and it brings unique, quality vintage inspired designs to the modern women.
3)What's your concept of fashion and what's your relationship with the fashion system (i.e. fashion show, shooting, stylists, press, etc...)
I find creating a concept that can be elaborated into design, liberating. Seeing the process through from start to finish is a craftsmanship and I enjoy working in the studio constructing the garments and styling on photo shoots. 4) Projects for 2013. The year is still young and has a lot to offer. I'm planning on spending sometime in Italy (I'm a quarter Italian) as I find the country exquisite and inspiring. La scorsa settimana abiamo inziato con la stilista italiana Caterina Gatta, questa volta e' il turno di una stilista inglese: Danielle Christina Timms e del suo macrhio Make & Believe by Daniella Christina.
Ho potuto vedere i suoi abiti per la prima volta lo scorso giugno, durante il Charity Fashion Show qui a Brighton, poi un paio di mesi dopo ho usato alcune sue creazioni per lo styling dell'editoriale 'New Vintage'. Ma inziamo ora con l'intervista.
1) Brevissima introduzione su di te, il tuo marchio, stile dei tuoi capi, dove lavori (citta')
Danielle Christina Timms e' la mente dreativa del marchio Make & Believe by Daniella Christina. Marchio di abbigliamento da donna, ispirato dall'a sartorialita' vintage. Lo scopo e' quello di creare (Make) abiti unici e di credere (Believe) nell'individualita' di ciascuno. Il marchio e' per tutti coloro che credono i cio' che indossano ed e' sinonimo di stile e qualita' che durano nel tempo. Un capo vintage/sartoriale dura per sempre ed e' sostenibile. Daniella Christina e' sempre tesa alla ricerca di questo scopo.
2) Quale la tua cliente tipica/ideale? Il marchio e' per una donna indipendente, forte ed elegante ( niente fronzoli e fiocchetti). Il mio marchio rendere accessibili creazioni uniche, di qualita', di ispirazione vintage per la donna moderna.
3) La tua idea di moda ed il tuo rapporto con il fashion system ( trend, sfilate, eventi, lookbook, fotografi , stylist etc...) Trovo estremamente liberatorio il processo che va dal creare un concetto ed elaboralo in un abito. Mi da grandissime soddifazioni partecipare a tutte le fasi che coinvolgono il mio lavoro, dal lavorare nel mio laboratorio allo styling dei miei lookbook.
4) Proggetti per 2013.
L'anno e' ancora giovane. Sto pensando di passare un po' tempo in Italia ( sono per quarto italiana)visto che la trovo un paese squisito e ricco di ispirazione. Ammiro l'etica al lavoro, lo stile ed i prodotti fatti a mano italiani.
