Esben and the Witch is a trio from Brighton who took the name from a Danish fairy tale. If you want to know everything about them is pleanty of blogs explaining you everything up to their favourite toothpaste.
What matters to me is that I heard this song, Warpath, and I really liked it. They alternate loud guitars with eerie arpeggios, halfway between ethereal and solid. Their tones are dark and occasionally spooky, perfect for a sunday night.
I’m listening to their full album right now. Yes I’m writing about a disc that I don’t properly know yet, so what? At the first listenings i can say that, although they might not be remembered forever, I’m undoubtedly going to see them if they play a gig around. Perhaps leaning in a corner sipping some red wine.
This is their single Warpath, but I also recommend Marching Song and Light Streams.
