Fashion Icon of the week: The Olsen twins

Questa settimana parliamo di due attrici che ci hanno accompagnato un pò nell'infanzia (chi non ha mai visto un film delle gemelle Olsen?!) e che adesso sono due affermate fashion icon. Le due gemelle, classe 1986, sono due attrici statunitense. Le due ragazze sono apparse al cinema già da piccolissime, e hanno subito riscosso una certa notorietà anche fuori dall'America, grazie ai vari show televisivi, interviste e pubblicità dove sono sempre insieme.Le due gemelle, omozigote, sono nate a Sherman Oaks in California, da David Olsen e Jarnette Jones. Hanno iniziato la loro carriera da quando avevano un anno, recitando nella serie Gli amici di papà nella pare di Michelle Tanner. Dato che interpretavano lo stesso personaggio, il pubblicò pensò che la bambina che interpretava Michelle Tanner fosse una sola e che si chiamasse Mary Kate Ashley Olsen. La serie deve il successo che ha avuto alle Olsen. Con l'aiuto dei genitori creano una loro linea d'abbigliamento, giornali, film, poster e videogiochi con il nome di "Mary Kate e Ashley's Magycal Mistery Mall".Oggi le gemelle sono due figure popolari tra i ragazzi. In America vengono chiamate "Golden Twins" (gemelle d'oro). Le ragazze sono proprietarie di una casa di produzione, la DualStar, che ha permesso loro di entrare nel Guinness dei primati come le più giovani produttrici al mondo.Attualmente recitano in The Adventures of Mary Kate and Aschley della ABC, compagnia televisiva americana. Nel 2004 Mary Kate e Ashley hanno annunciato che si sarebbero iscritte al college. Le gemelle Olsen hannio studiato entrambe alla New York University, fino a quando Mary Kate non ha deciso di ritirarsi nel 2005. Mary Kate ha deciso di vivere nelle coste degli USA per seguire la sua carriera con la DualStar. Aschley invece continua i suoi studi rimanendo pur sempre in contatto con la sorella. Mary Kate ha recitato una piccola parte nel film Factory Girl con Sienna Miller, senza la gemella. Le due gemelle hanno intrapreso anche una carriera nel mondo della moda aprendo nella stagione 2006/2007 una linea di moda.Le gemelle Olsen hanno una stella sulla "Hollywood Walk of Fame" dal 29 aprile del 2004, e sono tra le più giovani ad aver avuto questo riconoscimento. Secondo alcuni giornali il loro patrimonio è tra i 150 milioni di dollari a testa.
