Fashion Trends at Pitti Uomo 88: amazing prints

In these days we are following  the Milano Fashion Week, and we are watching the next fashion trends, but before it’s over and we start analyzing it, I would like to point out some first ideas coming from my visit to Pitti Uomo 88 in Florence.

In my opinion  prints are being the most interesting and fascinating trend.

I saw: ethnic prints, baby like prints (on pocket squares), Expo inspired prints (Arcimboldo and similar), Hawaiian prints in several versions, the most beautiful one was bicolor united to a Prince of Wales pattern  – and, last but not least, navy prints. Some of the navy prints were definitely different from the average ones, showing soft shades of blue, on rough and natural textures, for a cozy and comfy interpretation of the nautical mood.

I also admired the strong contrast among shirt fabrics and tie patterns: some brand had in their collection bold patterns with vivid colors in the shirts as well as in the ties, conceived in geometrical prints, created to be  matched together for an impressive coordination.

As we are talking about prints, I discovered a great brand that really is doing a good research about materials and style, with an eye on history and art: Tardia.

At their stand I saw beautiful garments  with  prints inspired by XVIII Italian Art, in particular the engravings by Giovan Battista Piranesi, the ones showing the transportation of the  the Twin Springs, the “Ocean pulled by a chariot of tritons”  and the the Granite Tub to Rome and Città del Vaticano from the Baths of Caracalla where they formerly used to be. They appear on the trench, t-shirt, bags, jackets and waistcoats. No wonder  the name of the collection is Fountains.

This is the best example of how the prints are going to appear on menswear next summer. Everywhere: on clothes, outerwear and accessories, but with elegance and style, communicating a combination of facts and meanings,  telling a story.

So, dear gentlemen, get ready to find your favorite pattern ant to wearing it your own way!

How to be classy with not-classic prints on your jacket

In questi giorni stiamo seguendo la Fashion Week Milanese, e stiamo osservando I prossimi trend della moda uomo, ma prima che le sfilate siano finite e possiamo cominciare ad analizzare I risultati, vorrei fare il punto su alcune prime idée risultato della mia visita a Pitti Uomo 88 a Firenze.

Secondo la mia visione, le stampe stanno per diventare il trend futuro più interessante e affascinante.

Ho visto: stampe etniche, stampe baby (sulle pochette da taschino) stampe ispirate all’Expo (Arcimboldo e simili), stampe hawaiane in differenti versioni, la più bella era bicolore unita a un pattern Principe di Galles – e, per finire, stampe navy.

Ho anche ammirato forti contrasti fra la stoffa della camicia e I pattern della cravatta: alcuni brand avevano in collezione pattern moto bold con colori vividi sia nelle camicie che nelle cravatte, concepiti geometricamente e creati per essere abbinati in una coordinazione molto d’impatto.

Dal momento che parliamo di stampe, vi parlo di un brand che ho scoperto e chef a davvero ricerca sul materiale e sullo stile, con un occhio sulla storia e sull’arte: Tardia.

Al loro stand ho visto capi bellissimi con stampe ispirate all’arte italiana del XVIII secolo, in particolare le stampe di Giovan Battista Piranesi, , quelle ben conosciute che rappresentano il trasposto delle Fonti Gemelle, Oceano trainato da un cocchio di Tritoni e la Vasca di granito a Roma e quella che ora è la città del Vaticano, dai Bagni di Caracalla, dove precedentemente si trovavano.

Queste opere appaiono sul trench, sulle t-shirt, borse, giacche, gilet. Non ci meraviglia il fatto che la collezione stessa si chiami Fontane!

Questo è stato il miglior esempio di come le stampe appariranno sull’abbigliamento maschile l’anno prossimo. Ovunque: sugli abiti, i capispalla e gli accessori, ma con eleganza, comunicando una combinazione di fatti e significati, raccontando storie.

Quindi i gentlemen sono avvisati, devono prepararsi a scegliere un pattern perché adesso possono indossarlo  nel modo che preferiscono.
